Ahhh we’re getting close to the end🥹 GED is an exam for those who didn’t graduate high school. Passing that will get you a certificate equal to a high school diploma. I took the exam and got the certificate years ago so I can go to college since I’m already 18 when I came from the Philippines and the school here in California told me I was too old to be in high school so either I go to an adult school to get a diploma or take the GED. I took the easier route and took the exam.

I think what makes seungwans story more impactful is the fact that Korea is very hard on academics and her decision really deviates her from the path she was on. All high schoolers take the CSAT when they graduate and from what ive heard your results can really make or break your career/ life (maybe more so in the past). I believe that in Korea is it very normal to go to after school crams/ study session with a tutor and even have studying periods at school during the weekend. I think what the mother meant by if she was gonna throw a year away is about how much time, effort and hard work seungwan has put in to study to prep for CSAT, plus as a top student too. Also she probably has to wait even longer now that she has to take a GED first. Even if she transferred school idk how plausible it is given the fact that it could be a long process and the CSATs were a month away. On top of that she now has a permanent record of her dropping out of school which i think would be really hard for other schools to accept her even if it was all for the right reasons

i’m apart of the gen z who’s max is 1 year older than me 🤣 i genuinely can’t imagine dating a 20 year old (i’m 18) but of course things happen and sometimes you meet people that’ll change that

this reaction is old so you probably wont see my comment but when you were saying "if someone this hot and nice comes along, you still wouldnt date them because of the age gap?" THAT's what grooming is. yijin isn't doing it to heedo (at least not intentionally), but someone else might. there are many people who consistently go for younger people because they feed off of the power imbalance. college age or working adults trying to date highschoolers are grooming. because this show is so beautifully written, it's more than just an age gap drama. but we cant deny the fact that theres a huge gap in experience between them. whenever yijin hangs out w the friend group, he acts like hes babysitting them. only heedo is special to him. that IS inappropriate. the whole "you're mature for your age" "you're not like other kids" thing are red flags in real life. i know times were different and different cultural contexts etc. but it doesnt hurt to recognize the power imbalance here.
