Hellfire Gala '23 pages (Patreon)

now this was an almost entirely different experience than the previous years issue. I was approached early on by Gerry about what kind of section I wanted this time around, having the issue pitched to me as "The Red Wedding"

I was actually really excited about drawing that desperate battle that breaks out and thats what was assigned to me when I first got the script.

this was also the first Gala in which I was asked to come up with some designs; initially I was asked just to do the Emma Frost design for this year.

but upon reading the script I found this section here, the frantic and tragic escape was actually far more enticing to me, and it allowed me to draw my Emma design a lot. this then came with the unforeseen issue in there being several mutants that only appear in these pages that would need designs. so I went from having to just design 1 mutant, to now designing 8, which ended up being super fun cause I could just design for myself and I came up with some of my favorite designs of my career
