We ended up going with a different angle of Dorian on the first panel, since it felt odd not to show his face until Panel 5.

The angle you went with is definitely better, but I do like the idea of starting the page zoomed in on the watch. It kind of emphasizes the idea that time has past, considering all that is happening both in the back room and, simultaneously, at the academy.
