HOTEL LEX - FLOOR 6 (1/?) (Patreon)

You jump at the screen and tap it.

"Access denied, administrative override required. Security lockout in one attempt."

"Wrong choice." The Baron tosses Emmett to the ground and grabs you.

You immediately feel a pull toward his hand, as if it had its own gravitational pull. Your arms go limp, and your brain slips back into a blissful haze. Your eyes roll back as the physical ache washes away with each passing second. After your exhausting chase, you have no willpower left to fight. You watch lazily as the Baron presses the doll against you and right as you're about to be consumed by the doll, the elevator shakes.

"Maximum verification attempts exceeded. Security protocol activated, lock sequence engaged."

You both look over and see that Emmett has hit the screen one more time.

The doors slam shut and the elevator begins to shake.

"What in the—" The Baron loses his balance and topples backward. You drop to the ground, unable to move as you start losing your senses. Your body refuses to cooperate; the link between your soul and this plush body has broken. You lie there motionless as the Baron stands up.

"Enough with these antics," he barks loudly. He reaches down and picks up Emmett who whimpers in response.

"You—"

"IFF signature confirmed. Returning to Main Deck, please stand by."

The elevator accelerates forward and all three of you are sent backward into the wall. Emmett crashes into you while the Baron smashes hard into the back door. You and Emmett are just out of reach of the Baron as the gravitational force holds you in place. He lands in the puddle of mysterious liquid and yells in surprise and frustration. You watch the puddle cling to his clothes and his hands as he attempts to wipe it off.

"Where is this? What is happening?!" The Baron yells angrily.

You gasp as it occurs to you that the Baron is taking a one-way trip with you and Emmett to the next floor of the hotel. Emmett seems to have realized this too as he squeezes your hand tightly.

"Reaching outer orbit, pressure equalizing, guidance system synchronized."

It feels like your head is splitting as you can barely keep your eyelids open. All three of you struggle to stay conscious in this rocket pod breaking through the atmosphere. You peer over at the Baron and gasp. The puddle he landed in was slowly enveloping him. You watch in horror as the alien web springs across his body and covers his scales and feathers. He reaches up to tear at ropes of goo but each movement seems to encase him further and further. He opens his mouth but nothing comes out as he gags on the fluid now entering his throat.

The rocket pod slows down and you feel yourself floating slightly.

"Visual contact with Main Deck, arrival in T-30."

Emmett clings to you as you drift into the air. The Baron, now almost completely covered in shifting goo remains motionless on the ground. You try to move but you feel paralyzed from the neck down. Instead of worrying about your physical ailments, you reassure Emmett who is shivering.

"S-Space... S-Space, n-no..." He mutters, his eyes wide in shock.

You nuzzle his neck as he holds your arm like a strap of a backpack. Suddenly, you feel gravity returning and Emmett lands on his feet.

"Docking sequence initiated, gravity equalized."

The pod rumbles and air thrusters push it into position before latching onto the main ship.

"Pressure secured, hard seal established, please stand by for inspection."

The door slowly opens and you half-expect someone to be there. Instead, you are greeted by the sound of sparking electricity and a lack of lighting in the loading dock. You spy a long hallway that turns at the end into darkness. Emmett peers back at the mass that is the Baron and shudders. You tell him that it's best to get a move on as you both are familiar with such a sequence of events. Suddenly, the rear door of the elevator opens to reveal a different, smaller room. It is lined with lockers and a decontamination room.
