You tell him your plan: you'll tie yourselves together, and if things go awry, surely you'll be able to use vines to hold both of you down from floating into space. He shifts around nervously but agrees.
You find a couple of spacesuits hanging in the lockers and put them on. Even though you think neither of you will really be affected by the conditions of space, any kind of protection is welcome. You gingerly pull a larger suit over your swollen belly. It's grown slightly but you pay it no mind. There's nothing you can do at the moment; your best hope is to find a new body to control or at the very least, inhabit. You take the spool and measure out its length. Since you only bought half, you don't have much to work with. You settle on tying your wrists together. You make sure to tie the ends as tight as possible, and you test its tensile strength by pulling Emmett into a smooch. He blushes, a little flustered from the act.
"Thank you..." Emmett says, "S-Sorry... for always n-needing reassurance."
You give him a pat on his head and tell him it's nothing. After all, you find it much more comforting to protect than to be protected.
You gather your wits and step into the airlock. A voice announces the procedure: 'AIR DEPRESSURIZED; GRAVITY ANCHORS, DEACTIVATED.' You feel yourself floating like you did in the elevator on your way here and you grab Emmett's trembling paw. Your head spins from the lack of direction so you cling to a nearby pole to steady yourself. After a couple of deep breaths, you flip the latch and open the airlock door. You are met with immediate silence, and you feel like your ears are popping. You carefully observe your body, but it seems to be doing just fine. You look over at Emmett and he tucks his glasses into a pocket of his space suit. You press off the pole and slowly exit the airlock. Your tongue feels dry as you hold onto the side of the ship's hull trying not to look down, or up, or any direction the void stretches into. You inch along a set of horizontal handrails, careful not to lose grip or miss a step. The exterior of the ship is rather badly damaged and it's surprising that it's still functioning at all. Now that you're on the outside, you can see the ship in its entirety; you see a giant hole in the side of the ship but it's covered up with crystal gemstones. It glitters brilliantly in the dark, and some of it looks like it's moving. Some of it obstructs your path and you realize that the next hold is missing. You're very hesitant to grab onto the crystals as who knows what will happen to you if you do. Instead, you look for the next possible handle and it's too far to reach. You have to jump to reach it.
You turn to Emmett and he looks over at the gap. He shakes his head, his eyes shutting tight. You look down and spot a lower platform to drop down to. You're not sure if it will lead you where you need to go but it is indeed a direction.
