Happy New Year, Patronies! This month's main and bonus shows are coming later this month (we've picked some great topics), but we also wanted to put a call out for RANDOM QUESTIONS for us to cover on future DOUBLE BONUS Q&A shows. (Meaning, we want to occasionally throw y'all a bonus show on top of our regular bonus show!)

These can be questions about just about anything -- old or new movies, toys, snacks, whatever. As about our favorite this, least favorite that, white whales, secret passions, whatever you can think of. We'll use this post as our stockpile for several upcoming Q&A shows. We're looking forward to seeing whatcha got, so drop your questions in the comments section of this post!

Beyond that, stay tuned -- the new episodes for January are coming soon enough!

You’ve covered our childhood favorite TV, movies, toys and food but don’t have any memorable radio experiences? Z morning zoo, radio commercials or other staples of 80s/90s radio? Nostalgia is the fuel of your content, do you ever feel you’re running low on that feeling? Are there still “hey I remember that!” moments in your lives? You guys don’t divulge much into your personal lives but is your love of nostalgic pop culture ever an impediment in life? Has it ever been a benefit in an unexpected situation? I think many people would agree that the charm of Purple Stuff is your accessibility and a feeling of familiarity with you both. Have you ever been offered an opportunity to take this podcast or even your solo content to a broader level? Would you if given a chance? What’s been the most rewarding part of doing the podcast? Most frustrating? Do you think we grew up in the best possible time? Is there any trend or Pop culture phenomenon you wish you could have taken a bigger part of?

Jack Kearney

Judging by the volume of questions you received, have you ever considered doing a live show? With an audience? Maybe at a con?

Marie

1. What does your ideal Thanksgiving Day look like? Must-have food, family or personal traditions, etc. 2. Have you seen "BBC Ghostwatch," and if yes, thoughts? 3. What were your favorite books growing up? I really love you guys, thanks so much for all things Purple Stuff. :)

Derick Armijo

What are your best and worst memories of watching movies and the movie theater?

Mark Dziak

Love the show, guys! Here are a few questions. What are some of your favorite and/or strangest finds at flea markets? What are some things you bought on EBay that you later regretted (if any), and why? What are some of your top picks for newspaper comics ("funnies") of the 80s and 90s?

Ryan Murphy

What’s an underrated toyline you collected? I somehow owned all the Snaliens.

Nathaniel

What's one candy from your youth which hasn't been revived once that you'd like to see make a comeback?

Derek McKnight

Did u guys ever have any amazing field trips as kids? Did u got to summer camp or your prom?

Michael Dolby

Matt, would you ever consider selling a digital only fun pack for those outside the US so we could get the mini posters, essays and newsletter?

Erica Marie

Unsolved mysteries part 3!! Best fantasy movies of 80s and 90s

Donald Duck

What your top cartoon villians from the 80s/90s? Some people forget that even though My Little Pony was a kids show, the main villian was kind of metal. I feel like a lot of the older cartoons sometimes had some really adult villians that were maybe only ever a villian of the week or on a show that a lot of people just over looked.

Nick

I think I’m about 5 years older than you guys. I have just about no memories of the 70’s but I’m amazed how much you guys can recall from the early 80’s. Does a lot of that come from growing up with older siblings? Also what’s the first 80’s thing you remember disappointing you as a kid? PAC-man for the Atari 2600 was definitely mine .

Nicholas Jackson

1. Matt, can we talk about your small collection of stuff from Rob Sheridan? What led you to Rob's work? Was it NIN? 2. Other than nostalgia, what other obsessions / hobbies do you both have? 3. What is your dream career? Can be a totally made up gig that does not really exist or can be a super normal job like dental assistant....

Dean K.

Matt, it's been a while since I heard you talk about Atlantic City. Your trip reports way back during the X-Entertainment days was how I discovered you. Do you still make the occasional trip there, and if so, any memorable finds or experiences to share?

Michael Pasquith

What’s the toy or toy accessory you lost, that still haunts you to this day? (I watched He-Man’s sword go down the bathtub drain when I was 4)

Grant Yochim

If you had just two weeks left to live, what would be the last movie and show you'd watch, what would be the last video game you'd play.

Brad Vonknsky

Do you have any favorite retro TV commercials that you want to highlight that haven’t made their way onto the show yet?

Kylee

How many burgers are in the freezer? Anything else limited edition frozen in there? Do you look at them? Or just like to know they’re there? Getting tight on space?

Annie Davis

Favorite kids meal toys or fast food promotions growing up that were NOT McDonald’s or Burger King?

Josh Hankemeier

Can you please have more of Jay's dad on the show? I don't care what he talks about. Just bring him on and have him chat with you guys!

Josh Hankemeier

What's the most psychologically unsettling film or episode of a TV show you've ever seen? Some examples of what I mean could include David Lynch's "Eraserhead", the Twilight Zone episode "It's A Good Life" or Jim Henson's "The Cube" from 1969. (Ever seen that? Here you go! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tg96j26MFYA)

Josh Hankemeier

What foods that only exist in cartoons, movies or TV shows would you like to try if they existed in real life? It could be something that might seem appetizing (like Smurfberries) or something disgusting (like Yoda's rootleaf stew from The Empire Strikes Back).

brian kent

When can I get some Purple Stuff merch?

Chuck

What is your favorite infomercial of the 80s or 90s?

Michael Pasquith

You’re eating pizza in the basement. What’s the movie you have on? The first that pops into your head

Michael Pasquith

Ive never taken an epic American roadtrip, but movies/tv have convinced me that I need to one day. Would you ever take a road trip, and if so, which tourist traps are you making a point to see?

David Chris

If you guys could put together the Justice League of pop-culture icons - let’s say 5 members (anyone from Alf, to Zorgon, to Rainbow Brite, to Samara) 1 who would be on the squad? Thanks again for doing this, guys!

Jason Howell

What was the coolest backpack/school supply to bring to school in the 80s-90s?

Ian Kyle

I would love for you to do a list of the greatest Ninjas from pop culture. I’m thinking like Ninjor from Masters of the Universe, Rambo toy bad guys, Chuck Norris bad guys…etc. That could be a really fun episode

Mr.Haunts

I would Love to hear your Top 3 Crushes from the 80s and 90s! Jay I know you got a Big List lol my number 1 was Elvira 100%

Sarah Sepanek

* What is your opinion/history with claw machines? Do you win/fail miserably/spend obscene cash on them? * Maybe a topic for future PSP? TOP COMMERCIAL JINGLES OF THE 80s/90s * How Matt met Jay - the PSP origin story (sans personal details of course) ... how did you two meet and bond over He-Man and discontinued snacks? * Worst childhood fashion memory? (Bad haircut from mom, hideous sweater, giant glasses, retainer, awkward school picture?)

Sarah Sepanek

One more: Will there ever be an official PSP/SC/DD/XE fan page someplace that won’t require much overseeing where long time readers can geek out

Michael Pasquith

Back in the day my favorite soda vending machines were the ones that featured the Non-Coke/Pepsi brands. Sometimes they would have a blank button that would shoot out a mystery drink. Question is - Would you have ever dared to push the mystery button, and if so, what would you have been hoping for?

Dre-Vader

My question is, what is the latest that you’ll buy Halloween food or drink? On January 15 I bought two bottles of Mountain Dew voodoo and four packs of Snickers pumpkins. Love you guys. By the way, I’m referring to Halloween products you’ll be consuming and not collecting.

Lance Beasley

Similar to your wonderful Bowling Alley episode, walk us through what a typical day might be like at a Purple Stuff theme restaurant. Maybe something akin to Casa Bonita but based on the likes and loves of Matt and Jay?

M

What’s the origin story of how you two met and started hanging out regularly? What are some of your favorite early 2000’s memories specifically? Also, any plans on doing any new time traveling episodes similar to the bowling alley / blockbuster shows? Really enjoyed how imaginative and immersive those were. Love you guys. Been listening since the beginning and always revisiting episodes.

Fridge Largemeat

Did you guys have a favorite "rack toy", like something cheap that came from a grocery store or five and dime that really just tickled your fancy for some reason? In the mid 80's I got this pocket Tyco/Sega "Thunder Blade" helicopter on a shopping trip with Grandma to the local Safeway. That was my go-to toy for several weeks until getting it stuck in a tree at school one day.

Cody Curtis

Matt and Jay, what were some of your favorite bath toys as a kid? Did you ever designate non-bath toys as honorary bath toys (either on purpose, or because you put em in the bath once and inadvertently ruined them)?

Kylee

Where are you? I keep refreshing! 💕

Gabriel Reyes

Any thoughts or opinions on WCW's Black Scorpion?

Randall Ragsdale

I'm re-watching Critters and wonder what Matt and Jay's top little puppet villains that work together are.

Steven

Did you guys ever watch Beyond Belief Fact or Fiction? I was obsessed with that show as a kid and now I like to listen to podcasts about it.

Martin Matthews

Are you a Hulkamaniac or little Warrior?

Angela Hensley

I'm late, sorry. You're both at a karaoke bar together. What song will you both sing as a duet? 🤣

Jan

I remember when Jay met Matt at a convention and Jay was trying to get his attention, I noticed you didn't get into detail as to why you were getting his attention. Was it because Jay had recognized the man also known as Dinosaur dracula and was a fan? Just curious.

SpectraLeper

I sometimes hear Matt (and once in a while Jay) typing during the show and it sounds pretty clicky. What kind of keyboard do you use?

Michael DiGiovanni

Hey fellas. What was your favourite 80s era cereal commercial(s) that did the ”to be continued…” gimmick? Thoughts/memories on this concept?

Kylee

What other titles did you almost go with for this podcast?

John Cierpial

Why does Jay always wear sunglasses? I've never seen him without sunglasses. Did he become blind from all the neon lights he started at as a little kid and has become the first recipient of Geordi La Forge's smart glasses?

Austin Kokel

Have you guys ever talked about the toy line Starcom on the show? Those were some seriously underrated toys.
