We’re back just in the nick of time with our March 2025 bonus show, exclusively for those of you supporting us here on Patreon. Actually, us posting this super close to April makes perfect sense, since this is a vaguely Easter-themed show!

Join us as we flip through the glorious pages of a 1987 Kay-Bee Toys Easter circular, filled with action figures, dolls, video games, and everything else that made a kid’s life worth living. There were plenty of heavy hitters in this old newspaper ad, and it was also a chance for us to dish on some subjects that haven’t come up previously on the show.

But wait! We’ve also uploaded the entire dang circular, where you can ogle eight full pages of nostalgic bric-a-brac… and maybe try to find the items we discuss on this bonus show. Click here to see it!

We picked six playthings in all, and if you wanna learn more about ‘em, follow the links below!

1. Pogo Bal!2. Rubik’s Magic!3. Regular Ol’ Play-Doh!4. Kenner Star Wars Figures!5. Karate Kommandos!6. The Atari 7800!

We’re not sure if this episode will fill you with Easter spirit, but it’s sure gonna make you blow a hundred bucks on eBay.

Also, as an FYI: We are still working on March’s big show, but we need a few more days. It’s on its way, though, and it’s a great one. The bonus show comes first – you guys are the ones supporting us, after all – but the regular one isn’t too far behind. Stay tuned, and thanks a million!

This is the medicine I need to get through this flu!

The Power Dump is only $14.99. What a great value!

You slayed me with the pogo ball memories. I thought I was a such loser for eating gravel every time I played with mine. Thanks for the validation! I don’t know if you ever take requests , but have you ever considered doing those old school health and safety PSAs? I’d love to hear you guys do a show on some of those. I’m still programmed to respond “And knowing is half the battle, go Joe!” every time someone says, “Now you know.” Got some weird looks at the grocery store for that the other day…

My six year old son became very disillusioned with Play Doh when he realized that his creations wouldn't last, too. I used to love the commercials for the play sets, particularly the ones that made food. Always so disappointed when my at-home Play Doh pizza or spaghetti didn't look like on the box. I chuckled at the mention of years-old Good Housekeeping magazines. I also collect those! I can't be the only person who originally found Dinosaur Dracula via retro Chex Mix recipes, can I?

Thank you for calling back RADIOACTIVE SPRAAAAAY

I sampled Play Doh but never ingested due to the foul taste. Fo your thing Matt.

I actually got a pogoball as an Easter gift back in '87. I loved that thing.

I like to find the salespapers when I look at sunday papers on microfilm. Except for you, Sears. Your salespapers were like 75 pages. No wonder you're on death's door. Spent too much money on ads! I'm baptist, so getting gifts at communion is a total "buh?" to me, lol

My podcast app hasn't been dragging over the last 3 bonus shows. I am a happy camper now I have fixed it!

I had those exact same yellow and blue roller skates, but seeing the bubble mower surprised me – had one very similar.

I have a picture from 1985 of Easter morning, (I was 4) and I had gotten the Battle Armor He Man in my Easter basket. We usually always got a figure or something small along with the candy

I only knew one kid who had the 7800 around that time, but his dad also went all in on a Beta vcr too.

My brother and I, growing up in the late 80s and 90s, were among the fortunate who got one big present every Easter! Favorites that I can remember are the Pull Speed Ahead ghost from The Real Ghostbusters line and Secret of Mana for the SNES! Our dad was a preacher, maybe that had something to do with it haha.
