Big new episode for ya! We're diving deep into the legendary Horror Hall of Fame Awards, a 1990 TV special that would be best described as a horror-themed Oscars spoof. It's an amazing cheesefest with a surprisingly amount of heart, featuring everything from Chucky in a tuxedo to actual literal spiders scurrying off with award statues.

That episode is on our main feed now, but here's a link to it on Spotify to make things easier.

The good news is, you can watch it, too! The whole thing has been uploaded to YouTube, and trust us, it's worth your time. As beloved as this special is in certain circles, it's amazing that it doesn't have even more fans. If we can turn a few of you onto it, then doing this show was worth it. :)

Enjoy, and thanks so much for supporting the Purple Stuff Pod here on Patreon. August is almost over, but we've still got plenty of Halloween fun to share with you between now and October 31st. Stay tuned!

PS: If you dig this episode, you'll probably enjoy our older explorations of CBS's 1985 Halloween cartoon specials, WPIX's Friday the 13th Part IV broadcast from 1992, and a random episode of Friday the 13th: The Series from 1988. Pop some popcorn and crank us up!

Sam Kinison was in an episode of Tales From the Crypt, which also came out in 1990 - how many of these random guests were there because they were all filming stuff anyway?

What was the controversial thing Chucky said? I couldn't make it out...

Oh geez! Thanks for replying!

1990 was a stacked year for horror. The Night of the Living Dead remake came out that year also surprised it didn’t get a nomination.
