Hello Dear Ones, and Happy Christmas and Happy Holidays to all who celebrate, and a belated Happy Solstice (winter or summer, depending on where you are) to all who turn with the earth.

I think I have come to love the idea of sending you all an annual card, a story for you to listen to during this time.  It's a lot of fun choosing what story to read to you - and this time it's "A Letter to the Media re: Unrealistic Expectations of life" and I think it's a great time (and a great story) for resetting expectations of each other and the holidays.

I know I remind myself a lot that behind every reel or post or image I see on social media there is a real human, flawed, imperfect and very likely a mess, just not in the moments they choose to share.

I wish you nothing but the best, whatever that is for you, for your family, for your own brand of normal.  I like you just the way you are, and thank you for supporting me the way that I am.

Merry Christmas,

Steph

PS I just burned the Christmas Eve potatoes.

PPS Megan is still pregnant.

I’m 38 and I have been reading your books and following you blog since you came to Eau Claire, Wisconsin in about 2005. I have been terrified to have children and am I reaching the end of the line quickly. You help me have faith in myself that I wouldn’t complete muck it up. I already feel like an adequate mother without the children from these media images and marketing.
