I'm thinking that this one is sort of a knitting version of a slasher film, and if we were putting warnings on knitting videos this one would say that it's rated R for scissors and cutting knitting.  If you're feeling brave,  here you've got the story of how I shortened a sock by just one stripe.  I pick up the stitches, cut out the offender, and graft it all right back together.

There was a huge glitch in the matrix while I was making this and when I went to edit the whole thing together there was a spot where the sound was inexplicably gone. I'd already cut the socks up and fixed them and shipped them off to Ken, so there was no chance for a do-over- so... enjoy the musical interlude when it happens.  (Luckily it comes at a spot where I was repeating something, so it's not too bad, although that is not Joe's feeling and as a sound editor, he was practically apoplectic.)

I reference a video about grafting I made before, and it's this one, if you're looking for it.

Finally, every time I post one of you asks what sweater or knitted thing I'm wearing, so I'm going to start telling you each time. (Smart, right? Only took me two years to come up with that.) The sweater I'm wearing today is the Must Have Cardigan and it's knit in Valley Yarns Northampton - and I just checked the blog and it is a fifteen year old sweater, and I wear it all the time. It's held up really, really well, though one of the buttons is broken.

Happy viewing!

This was fascinating! I would have never thought to do this, and you made it so easy to follow along. Thank you!

I would appreciate some advice (not sure if it is fully video worthy!) - I am knitting the Havn sweater (second time round due to a sizing issue). First time I made it the bottom edge of the hem curled up like mad despite blocking and seaming and it shortened the body too much. There are 5 purl sts between the bottom 3st slipped finished edge and the cable pattern. Any recommendations ? I wondered about making a few of the Purl sts into garter st (or maybe all of them). Even in their photos it looks like the edge curls up too. But you lose a full 1-2 cm. Any help appreciated! :)
