Dee, you should definitely give it a watch if you have a boring night lol, there are musical parts throughout the film, but it’s an actual movie. There are only a handful of songs, spread throughout the film. Definitely think you should give it a try cuz I’m not a musical person either, like at all, but this was a great movie.

Ive watched Wicked and tbh it's probably better if you watch the movie as a whole so you can get better context. They don't sing the entire time and the story itself is really good. Right now you're essentially just watching a music video of a song that's in the film.

Honestly I’m not a musical person either, but there are certain ones that I did like growing up like the older Disney ones such as High School Musical, Camp Rock, etc. It definitely has those vibes but outside of the music, the actual story and movie parts are a lot better than those counterparts but the corniness is something that you have to be ok with going in.

I agree, I don’t really care for musicals, but there were some I grew up on I used to look at a lot with my family like hairspray, grease, etc. I’m just like you Dee what’s the plot and stuff like that.

It really is a matter of preference because I’m with your friend, I def teared up during it. It is super camp and femme so if that’s not your jooj then it won’t tickle your fancy.

It was actually good! I was more moved by Cynthia’s performance cuz she stole the movie for me. I felt like Ari’s character wasn’t too far fetched from her own persona so it didn’t seem like it was challenging for her. The actual production of the movie made me feel like I was in OZ.

Honestly, I hate musicals too, but I will say the story of this movie was beautiful. I tend to like the more emotional songs for this movie like Defying Gravity or I’m That Girl. Cynthia was singing girl. However, I can also see how this is a complete turn off and annoying. But I’d say give it a chance!

I definitely had high expectations for this movie (never watched it before, just read The Wizard of Oz and also not the biggest fan of musicals). I was excited to see Ariana, and see Cynthia for the first time! But then, I was so maddd! That movie had no business being that longgg—it was almost 3 hours of nonsense, tbh! Ariana's acting was sooo bad for me—it felt so forced! Her singing wasn’t crazy like that. Like, she went crazy at the start of the movie, then boom! She stopped with the vocals. The songs were not itt, besides like the intro song and the ending. Like, I was sooo over it, and I was tired too—slept for like 30 mins throughout the movie. BUT Cynthia was def thee highlight of the movie. She did her jobbbb! Her acting was amazing, and her vocals? TOP NOTCH. She saved that whole boring movie during the outro for Defying Gravity! Like, she woke me upp, and her vocals gave me a headache from how strong they wereee! Too bad Cynthia had little screen-time compared to Ari. 6/10. Cute visuals, but def beware.

I hate musicals, there’s only few that I can get into but this one, chile … the scene with them at the ball made me cry idk what came over me in the movies but I cried watching that … maybe it was the unhealed inner child in me that caused me to cry at that scene 😂🤣… As Dee said Twilight, I’m rewatching that over for the millionth time and acting like I’ve never seen it, it’s so good y’all😝. I’m team Jacob now idk wtf I was thinking when I was younger being team Edward (no shade).

I personally like musicals like Dreamgirls, Hairspray, and Burlesque to name a few. I had gone to see this one when it came out. I really enjoyed the movie bc its a prequel to the wizard of oz, but this song was my least favorite out of them all. I definitely agree with you this song is very child-like idk it gives me high school musical vibes. I really only liked three songs that I still listen to from the soundtrack but other than that the songs are okay but the story/movie itself is just really good and it has a powerful message. I understand why Cynthia and Ari get so emotional in their interviews because they put so much into this project. Not only did they have to sing it live, they also did their own stunts and the acting was really good. I was forgetting that it was Ariana like she played Glinda so well in my opinion. I don’t know what it is about this song that annoys me but I did not enjoy this one and it was even worse watching it for the second time lol but I’m going to support you Dee any video that pops up I’m clicking on it 😂🫶🏾

I think like any movie, watching only a tiny piece isn’t enough to judge. Kinda like if you read only one random page of a book. I don’t like musicals, like AT ALL, but this movie is actually a good watch. Besides theatrics, there’s great comedic timing, impressive practical environments and amazing vocals 🩷

Off the top of my head, the ones I can think of that I appreciate, Sister Act 2, Cinderella (Brandy and Whitney version), Sound of Music, Mary Poppins (og one), chitty chitty bang bang. I guess it's like pop music to me, there are songs that I'll thoroughly enjoy and others where I'm like, meh... not for moi

Dee, I wanna apologize on behalf of anyone who is giving you a hard time over your OWN opinions. Lemme tell you as someone who saw Wicked in cinemas 3 times, I LOVED it more and more with every watch, and I completely respect your reaction. In fact, as someone who loved the movie, the song is exactly the way you described it. The movie is EXCELLENT from a visual, costume, production and acting standpoint. The music is cheesy and very showtunes instead of pop. Ariana Grande gives such an impressive comedic performance and hopefully she gets an Oscar nomination. Cynthia too. It's predicted that she will. But yes, I don't think you should see movie because it is 2hrs 30m long and 50 minutes of those are singing. Once the movie comes out online, you should skim through it to see Ariana's comedic timing and the dramatic moments. Anyways, much love :)

I hate musicals. literally hate them. only "musicals" i like are like disney princesses walt disney type – like princess & the frog, tangled, frozen yk. but thisssss.... omg. i was crying. it was SO good. the deeper meaning about elphaba being an outcast and why she's chosen as an evil witch-scapegoat. it was really really good. and no they arent singing all the time, when they sing its at the perfect times, there's barely anytimes where you'll feel like it's awkward cuz of the singing. I still hate musicals but Wicked really did it for meeee. (also from ur insta story – i saw an airline called skylux that has 77% on business class flights!!!)

Ik i’m a few days late—3:51 “oh my god ppl like this??” Im cryinn😂😂. Me: listening to the sound track at least 2x a day💀 Idk what it is about wicked but i’ve been obsessed with it. i’ve seen it 3x and i need to get my fix again🤔. i think what engages me the most and adds to the already great story of wicked, is knowing that cynthia is black, it adds to the outcast/scapegoat vibe. As a fan of ariana too, it was so interesting to see her sing in a differnet style (operatic as Galinda) versus her pop style. Both cynthia & ari performed amazingly, and the practical sets made it feel like you were in Oz, 10/10 from me. These types of reactions are why I love your content you are honest 100%, all the time never fail to make me laugh❤️

musicals are definitely an acquired taste lol and i’ve never considered myself a musical fan but i am a..tolerater 😭 wicked surprised me tho bc i won’t lie a few songs in i was like “lorddd so it’s a musical musical” but as time passed the storyline really pulled me in and by the third act i was completely invested and am now lovinggg the soundtrack. definitely wanna go for another watch. as always tho, love the honesty. different strokes for different folks. 🤞🏽

I would say… for someone like you just seeing the last song of the movie would answer ur question of “why the hype”. This scene that you watch is typical over the top musical spacing. So I can see why u may like it. Its not the best thing in the movie for me personally
