My thing at this point when people keep saying ”Female empowerment” is that the independent girls aren’t doing it like that? If you look at a large majority of smaller and independent Female artists, it generally more about the artistry in different ways, even when it’s songs ABOUT sex. So when people say ”women can do what they want now and This is proof that”, How come the independent girl don’t do it? They’re the most free of all? I’m not saying an artist like Chloe is oppressively forced to show her body but it does at this point feel like to be a major black female artist means being sexually exploited by society and these major record labels. It’s giving very much patriarchy, illusion of choice, and fetishization of black women. I don’t know how much this plays a part in Chloe’s artistry specifically or if she just really wants to do these things but at this point there’s too many of the major black female artists doing it like this for it to not be concerning.

I agree 100% there way to be sexy without being raunchy and over the top. every music video a black female artist drops is almost like they are competing who has the raunchiest overly sexual music video. and reflect bad on us as community at the end of the day.
