UltraCoil

Perfectly timed release for my long train journey. I genuinely havent listened yet so hopefully this is a relaxing hang for my travels and not a barrage of offputting sexual riffs. Only relaxing sexual riffs for me today.

Jordan Minehan

Trampolines are terrible deathtraps and every backyard should have one.

CALIFORNIA DEATH WORM

I am listening at this very moment in Woke Bellingham, Washington at the music venue I work at and scheming about how to get No No Square booked here

UltraCoil

Update: Very relaxing except for the existential dread.

TiredLiam

Thanks guys really needed this. Left my dog at the hospital today and just not having a great day so this was perfect!

Christopher

Choochoo train noises at 25:36. Just in case anybody might be interested in those for any reason whatsoever

Christopher

also in regards to the fleeting, volatile nature of human existence and the possible pointlessness of all our struggles: have you tried Just Not Worrying About It? works pretty well for me most of the time

melanerpes

Interesting to chat about the meaning of life without the meditation guy present and thank you for saying deep beef twice

Willa Holt

smugly sat here feeling unbothered by all the talk of death and dying and then Ben goes “humanity will cease existing in […] 10-20 years” and suddenly I was locked in anxiety-wise. funny how every obsession seems ridiculous except those we feel, which Must Be Real, Actually.

cavemen did NOT invent 69-ing because they hadn't invented numeracy yet, the notion of a number as high as 69 would have killed a caveman instantly

Tom O'Keefe

I can't believe that Andrew not being on this episode is the way I discovered the little sound at the very beginning of the Mr Lucky Duck theme is in fact a part of the theme and not actually Andrew gasping at excitement for the theme which I always thought it was

I think it's nice that nothing really matters in the grand scheme of existence. It means the only thing that really matters are the little things, how you interact with and feel about other people. If you love someone that's actually extremely meaningful, and if you dehumanise, demean or hurt another person because of something they can't control there is no greater evil.

The meaning of life is the pursuit of pleasure 🧘🏻

I think Kurt Vonnegut and Alan Moore are generally right that time won't matter when you're not experiencing it, and that every instant of your life simultaneously exists forever. This brings me no comfort, but I sure wish I had done better thus far for the sake of my eternally present self.

Bee

I tend to also agree with Vonnegut, Moore, Einstein and Nietzsche (eww) that time is a flat circle and that everything we ever do hangs forever in eternity which makes our love, kindness and affection to each other so important. But also means the people in the world who allow the worst suffering to the most vulnerable that lasts forever need...something...done...to...them.

Bee

I learnt this too

Not a single Predator or Rambo reference? Do better.

I experienced super intense existential dread from taking finesteride (hair supplements) a few years ago. Turns out I was not losing my hair just very susceptible to a (to my credit very well-designed) prescription drug ad campaign.

Mike Snow

the trick to escaping existential dread is to make your life so miserable and joyless that the great empty void of eternity actually seems like a relief

Gary McCammon

Having watched "The Ritual" over the weekend, the nude gun guy takes on a lot of a different concept. "The horrible Loki-spawn took my friend and my clothes. I shot at it. I shall return."

DumbDumDumbDumb

Spinozism is kind of nice for existential dread stuff. Einstein was a fan

Boonta Vista

ooh I reckon this is the best answer we've gotten so far

Boonta Vista

the monster design in that movie is so good

Matt Watterson

So sorry, I shan’t be coming. 💁🏻‍♂️

I'm a big ol empiricist objectively (you ask me what is objectively real, I'll lean on our scientific understanding). But if you ask me what feels real as a weird little human freak wandering around the world, I will say it feels like everything is alive. I like the idea that life is how the universe comes to know itself. Being some part of the universe is very comforting I think. I like the idea that one day I'll be grass and sky. Maybe all the words I ever said will be forgotten, but I'll be in the sea. If I'm lucky maybe atoms will be blown out of our solar system, near the speed of light, and maybe they'll end up in another star system and be a totally different weird little guy. I like thinking about it like that. Like, it's always ending, but we're also always everything. But mostly I just like to go find tiny plants and fungus in the forest and stare at them, because they're nice.
