I grew up in Kansas and I went to Liberal’s Air Museum once about 15 years ago. I remember the curator telling me that the federal government came to take the engines out of the F-14 they had on display because Iranian agents kept trying to steal parts off of the plane. I just love imagining an Iranian agent, wearing a cowboy hat, trying to blend in with the people of Liberal, Kansas long enough to steal parts. Also that this probably happened multiple times for the Feds to do something about it.
