The funny thing is; Kathy Reichs Bones series is about a middle-aged woman with a teenage daughter and she has a personality and actually does describe actual forensic analysis, set in Canada. Good series. The books and the tv show are so jarringly different I couldn't possibly say they are the same premise. Also in the first season Dr Brenner is so into forensic and cultural anthropology (osteology) that they have to keep forcing her out into the field against her will, learns to be less of a robot and has some character growth. Season one Tempe and season 5 Tempe are so different they might as well be completely different characters.

All the talk about the show's weird car obsession reminds me of how in Psych, a loosely similar comedy mystery show, the main characters drive a blue Toyota Echo in virtually every single episode. I wonder how that show holds up in comparison to its contemporaries like this

I feel like I've been witness to the first blooms of a beautiful new friendship between Tom and Riley
