Andrew and Riley are joined by Dan Boeckner of Operators and The Bottlemen for the second episode of our series about the lasting cultural impact of September 11. We discuss Dan's recollection of the day, the impact that 9/11 had on the playlists of radio stations across the country, artists censoring their own songs, misguided musical output, and the only musician we can think of to create a lasting, prescient response in the form of a memorable concept album.

It's weird seeing this country from the outside. Like, I was in middle school on 9/11, half an hour from the Pentagon, where my pops worked, and half my school was military and Government, and the immediate jingoism that swept through was almost scary. I quickly got immunized because my best friend was Pakistani (but born and raised in Baltimore) and shit got really, really fucking rough for him. We were in fights nearly every day.

Going back through some old episodes I was reminded of this series. I'm guessing it's been dropped in favour of series 2 of BIWF, but I'd certainly be interested in hearing more at some point.
