Alanna

ngl i skipped the first 10 minutes as someone who has genuine religious convictions and all that

Alanna

okay apparently that was premature and that's on me

Alanna

not to belabour the point, but i think all major religions should be accorded a modicum of respect

Alanna

idk, I would kind of like a reply to this?

Boonta Vista

Hi Alanna! I am happy to clarify that we collectively have no sincere desire to murder the Pope. For me personally, I was raised in the church, my mum worked in the church, and my sister is still heavily involved in the church. Religion is a big part of people's lives and from memory I don't believe we at any point belittled people for having religious beliefs. We are not a bunch of Richard Dawkinses, we are simply a podcast with absurd fictitious intros.

Alanna

sure, but you get how having a more than 10 minute intro about the killing of the head of someone's religion can be a bit much?

Boonta Vista

Yep, absolutely! I'm sorry that you didn't enjoy this episode and I am sad to say that in just about every one of our episodes we have done at least one thing to upset at least one listener and that if we changed the podcast based on every complaint we got, we would no longer have a podcast.

Alanna

:/ sorry but that's quite a disappointing response from a pod that i've wholeheartedly loved for years now

Boonta Vista

I absolutely realise it's not satisfying, but it's true! We're catering to about 8000 people's sensibilities, we are going to get it wrong occasionally for each individual. I'm sincerely sorry that that was the case here for you, but we can't get a list of what is personally upsetting from every single listener and attempt to avoid those things. We try do our best by our own values and that is all we can do. I'm not entirely sure what else I can say here and, beyond that, it is a Friday night I would really rather not be doing work. Happy to pick this up on Monday if you want to talk about it further though!
