If anyone has any questions regarding the overall fuckedness of Dutch home rental practices, they should consult the “Moving Day” episode of The Dollop podcast.

scotch guard is a very thin layer of silicone. Go to a camping store and ask for some silicone waterproofing spray, and you can put it on your great coat etc. eg Atsko Silicone Waterguard from bcf. Its the same thing.

Yeah the floor thing is weird - but maybe, as I’ve been told about Germany, they might have actual rental security and tenants’ rights, so long-term renting and tenants doing alterations is the norm, unlike Australia where your obnoxious boomer landlord can boot you out at short notice and extort your bond from you because of some blu tack on the wall on your way out.

Thank you for not cutting the butt worm segment

Slugnoid

I have to say I enjoyed being sold on a patreon subscription in Ben's dulcet tones, on this occasion

This is such boring nerd shit, but I'm studying med lab science at QUT, and the "scotch tape test" is a real thing that we get trained to do to look for pinworms and their eggs. The, uh, microscopy part, not the collection. The reason you go to the doctor about it rather than just making everyone in the family take medication for it is usually because children are feral beasts and have no problem scratching their arseholes and then shoving their fingers in each other's faces. You end up with outbreaks across whole families at the same daycare or school. If you have a confirmed case of it, you can let any close contacts know that they might also have buttworms. ...Which is a conversation I'd love to overhear.

Seriously. The “Moving Day” Dollop is a top 5 ep.

Hello Boonta, I have been stuck on a train for several hours as well. My senior year of college (~2018) I was in Chicago attending a funeral for a close family friend a few days before thanksgiving. The day after the service I took a train back to my hometown. I live in a more rural area so the trains get going quite fast in these areas. It was early morning so I was napping on the train when I wake up with my head hitting the seat in front of me and a gigantic wheel bouncing past my window. Turns out we had hit a tractor that had been crossing the tracks to save time, and the driver had headphones in and could not hear the train (he sadly passed). After about an hour of sitting the staff started handing out beers since “they are technically evidence and we cannot sell them now”. We were in the middle of a field that was incredibly muddy so they ended up having us walk about a mile along the track to a point where some local farmers could picked us up in 4x4s. They drove 10 of us at a time to the nearest road. We were about an hour from my hometown so my dad and brother picked me up as well as another college kid and drove us to my home town (and him to the next station). All in all I believe the train was stopped for about 4 hours. Cheers Jack
