First of all, it's pronounced bollard. Michigan's lower peninsula is in the shape of a mitten, and the Thumb is the corresponding sub-peninsula. It's really funny because the only people in Michigan who have time and money to vacation are retirees so it's just a bunch of old shits in motorhomes at an RV park by the beach blasting Jimmy Buffet out of the Bose speaker taped to their golf cart.

I looked to be a teacher in Caseville so I went to their website and the banner said "Caseville Public School". I thought this typo didn't represent the school district well, but it turns out it really is just one school. Also, it's pronounced Gaylord (great local high school Audacity-produced hip-hop scene) and the "basketball" typo is very on-point. Also, Yooper is the correct pronunciation.

As a Michigander, the first thing I thought was - damn you really don't want to see the name of your home state in the podcast title. I'm going to go look at the comments while the intro plays. As the resident Yooper listener, I feel no less nervous now that I have seen the comments. 😬😬

I'm like oh no they talk about the UP too...

You can only order guns and have them shipped directly to you if you have a Federal Firearms License (FFL), which requires some fees, an FBI back ground check, periodic checks by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (BATF), a bunch of record keeping, etc. My guess is the guy who ordered the thirty rifles has a FFL and was going to resell the guns through his FFL-based business.

IIRC, you are NOT supposed to mark when a package contains a firearm, and it will almost certainly require a signature over the age of 18 (or 21, I guess, depending on the state).

I don't know why I'm like this.

It’s funny how incredulous y’all sounded at “opting in” to the paddle. I was raised in one of the 19 US states with school corporal punishment, and in my experience the principal will sometimes present a choice between suspension and the paddle. It’s an easy choice if suspension creates a hardship at home for your parents to arrange childcare during work hours. Also, they’d tell you that suspension goes on your “permanent record” and will hurt your chances of getting into a good university, but that corporal punishment doesn’t go on your record.
