So many questions! I can't wait to see the continuation of this story. How is Karla able to resist the binding? It seemed to be pretty strongly worded. Maybe Karla is wrong about how easy it is to resist or be disloyal to her new owner? What does Rania want with Karla as a familiar? If she just wanted her as a hostage she would go through all the binding of her. In D&D a familiar gives you special abilities, does Karla give her owner some special abilities that Tara didn't know about?

Karla thinks, it would be easy to resist the compulsion to obey? I like this kind of mind-control (the victim is aware, but does not believe it is a serious constraint). Too sad we have to wait so long, until we see what Tara does and how Karla feels, when she is in actual conflict between love to Tara and "easy to resist compulsion" to obey Rania ...!
