After months and months of turning down raid shadow legends, merge dragons, raid again, disgaea rpg, raid again, hair loss cremes, raid again, standing desks, bitcoin miners, mystery boxes and raid, again, I have finally been approached by a decent, genuine sponsor.

NordVPN have agreed to sponsor 1 video. They're willing to sponsor more but I want to see how people react to it and how it works for them.

This does NOT mean every video is going to be sponsored, far from it, thanks to you fantastic people I can turn down every offer if I need to.

They've given me a discount code, www.nordvpn.com/strife, and in a week or two i'll contact nord and discuss the future, if you have any input, for better or for worse, please feel free to say, I value your input.

I fully support you taking on sponsorships from companies that you feel are worth your endorsement. I've heard good things about NordVPN and may even give them a shot myself with this opportunity. :)

It's heartening to hear that you have the integrity and discretion not to accept every sponsor offer that comes your way. Since I discovered your channel, I appreciate your video quality and candor. My two bits worth is that I will continue to support your channel, as I feel you are very much worth supporting, and I trust your judgment on accepting sponsorships.

As ever, thank you again for your transparency and upfront nature Josh. You continue to be one of the content creators I respect most and am proud to support. I'm also happy you're finally getting sponsors that don't feel like they should be stuck in the Junk Folder of the Internet for eternity. My only concern regarding NordVPN is that the last time I'd heard anything about them was the data leak that happened involving their users several years ago, and their attempt to disguise and/or cover it up. That said, that was a significant time period ago, and I wouldn't be surprised if both their systems and their management have changed significantly since then, and I don't doubt you've done your own research into them. I just wanted to be sure you were aware of this particular SNAFU and could make your own decisions accordingly, as I don't think a company's mistakes need necessarily be held against them for eternity (depending on the nature and severity of the mistakes, obviously) but one should be aware of them regardless.

Im aware they had that breech and didn't handle it brilliantly, lets hope they've patched the hole and if anything bad does happen again, handle it with a little more tact than before.

Faye the Succubus

Fully concur. Thanks Josh, I'm reassured just knowing you're aware of the history involved!

I'm also relieved that this was brought up :)

2026-09-06 20:00 While I am happy for this opportunity for you, I hope you will do better than most other YouTubers who just repeated the VPN-Ad "Lies" (some of this advertisement jargon is downright misleading). Since you strike me as someone who values honesty, I am quite certain that you will take care in creating the spot and I honestly almost can't wait for this sponsor spot.

I made very sure to not lie about what a vpn can do, its not an essential tool or a magical issue

Having a business relationship with a company you actually support is quite rare. Back in the late 2000s and early 2010s, I wrote a lot of ad copy for products I had never really used (early iPhones, virus scan software, backup tools, and some other stuff) because I needed to pay bills. From an outsider's perspective, it seems easier to turn down that money than it actually is. One of the articles I wrote about an early IPhone paid $500 for about 20 minutes of work, and that's nothing compared to what some content creators get paid to just read a script. Hopefully more sponsors and revenue sources in-line with your personal values come in so you can continue going down the rabbit hole of obscure and odd MMORPGs.

Hi Josh, it is nice to see that you have a choice and are able to be selective about your sponsorships. I personally use NordVPN and have had no issues with it. It does what it sets out to do. It's simple to use and works as described. That's all I can ask for in a VPN. Congratulations again and hopefully this leads to more sponsorships that you want to support.

I must say, NordVPN is neat! I use it on all devices and its seamless to use.

Glad to hear about it. While I'm already using a different VPN, I've heard pretty good things about Nord, so it sounds like a good deal.

so happy a) you turn down the shitty sponsors b) you don't *need* sponsors c) you have had a quality sponsor and d) you only want to do one video to see how it works. integrity, integrity, integrity oh and the videos are fantastic too... :)

Be selective about who you bring to your team. Your brand is authentic and very professional. As long as your sponsors reflect that, please send it our way. I know not everyone can view and get insight on your patreon but its a strong move to only take on sponsors you see value in/ use. Keep up the good work.

2pennys: if the product is good you can just say what it offers and not talk about it's competitors. It's a good way to maintain integrity as you are not forced to say its better than anything else or embellish any claims. You just let viewers know the product exists and what it can offer them - which is what potential customers / viewers care about and any good company should care about too.
