Idk why yall will sit through 20 Resident Evils but you won’t do the original Godzilla series.

i know you guys are watching lanterns, but haven't seen the new episode before recording this. im just so sick of middle eastern depictions being people happily blowing themselves up. its just so gross from a show with black writers pretending to be racially conscious. the actor portraying the leader of the aliens whos only trait other than being scary terrorist analogues is that they blow themselves up, is jewish. they are still unmistakably portraying a trope. earlier in the series they forced jon to perceive their genocide, but never are they given any amount of empathy. its clearly a passing nod to the live streamed genocide on our phones. as if we've been forced. it just really pissed me off. i noticed who they were supposed to be from the beginning, but i wanted to see where they were going with it. it just completely pissed me the fuck off to see them gleefully, like the show takes the time to show that they are practically euphoric as they watch each other blow themselves up. its just so gross from a show clearly trying to be racially conscious, but the empathy just doesnt extend to "those people", who literally in the text have experienced genocide. im accusing the actor of doing a version of brownface to help create propaganda. to create art that suggests we just shouldnt care about these people because of the desperation of indigenous resistance. sorry for the rant, had to put it somewhere and few in my life take pop culture for anything but the circus it generally is.
