The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen - Caravan Of Garbage

2003 was very much like today in the sense that everybody was looking to adapt comic book properties into a huge movie franchise. So in continuing our Alan Moore-athon we're taking a look at The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen, or LXG if you would. In Sean Connery's final live action role before retirement he leads a team of 19th Century super people as Alan Quartermaine. We've never liked it but maybe that's wrong. Doubtful though. No idea how this gets panned but Blade is apparently high art. I think they're both decent films, not perfect, but certainly not boring, and not as bafflingly bad as a lot of big-budget films these days.

Am I crazy or are they softening to this movie? A lot less utter disgust than in the commentary. I liked it. Its not perfect but it was fun. The car was dumb tho.

Alan Moore is interesting because he's very much a person and not a brand - he's not going to tiptoe around if he's asked a dumb question. It's interesting listening to his talks with the comedian Stewart Lee - just two people who know literally everything about their respective crafts. It'll be 'there's an Australian who thinks he invented it, but actually the first recorded incident of the Westworld bit was in the court of King Louis XIII'.
