Chelsea (Patreon)

hey SDC. this is a super hard post to write - some heavy news incoming, so if that feels like too much to handle today I understand & advise you to look after yourself and maybe sit this one out.

Chelsea - our kind, funny, vibrant Chelsea that so many of you know sadly passed away last week. She was a long-standing SDC member and supporter of mine, someone I knew from coming to so many shows over the years & from every corner of the internet, including here on Patreon. Chelsea was someone I always looked forward to seeing in the gold tier live streams or outside after an Orla or FIZZ show - she had a completely infectious and incredibly warm energy that was properly impossible not to soak up when you were with her. Chelsea is still the latest DM at the top of my twitter inbox and every time I’ve seen that message the last week it’s made me stop & think about how great she was. Her love for music seemed so SO pure and I always felt lucky that she listened to mine.

Understandably this has been a huge blow to those who knew & loved her so deeply and to this community as a whole - I’m sending all the love in the world out to each of you that are in constant contact & holding one another through this incredibly tough moment. I wanted to be careful not to be the one broadcasting this news to anyone who knew Chelsea for the first time so I held back on posting this until I felt all those close to her would be aware of the news. Thank you so much to everyone who let me know the news so carefully & mindfully - you guys are seriously amazing, it’s genuinely an honour to watch how you guys operate as a group of friends, a proper chosen family. You should all be really proud of how you look after each other.

Those close to Chelsea may know that her family have set up a GoFundMe to give Chelsea a beautiful sendoff - their target has now been reached so no one should feel any pressure but I’ll link that here for anyone that might be interested.

I’ll be continuing to think of Chelsea / all of you that knew & loved her - I hope you’re all doing as OK as you can be right now. For those of you who come to my gigs regularly you know I’ll be coming to find you after the next show and hugging you all extra tight
