hey SDC! happy release day

here are some musings for the big day that's in it, alongside some (actually) candid thoughts. turns out excitement and sadness can very much co-exist!

This is getting overwhelming, too many of your songs are so good they can’t all be my favorite! So obsessed with the music video it 100% perfectly captures the vibes. So sorry to hear about that person quitting out of the blue! Sometimes it’s hard to not take these things so personally because even though it’s just a job, you are attached to it like you are literally the brand so things that happen in a work sense tend to have an easier time bleeding into a personal attack as well even if it’s not meant to be. It’s hard to let new people into a group because it requires a kind of vulnerability to open up your family and let someone new in, but I know you’ll get there! Very excited for the Red Orla Era™️ 😎

Both can absolutely be true — brighter lights cast darker shadows. I know how heart it is to truly trust someone that you need to depend on, and can so clearly picture the deep cut left by this falling through from such a height. You've built something so good, something that is both you and bigger than you, and it's so worth celebrating and protecting and feeling your feelings about. Sending you so much love. Emily and I were at a gig (Tiny Habits!) at release time but we were so excited that we watched the video during changeover. LOVE the visuals! The visualisation of being multifaceted, how the scenes are framed, the styling, the colour grading, the trust fall, unhinged wallpaper... so incredibly cool on its own and then on top of that it expands the meaning of the song for me. And to answer your question, I did actually go back and listen to this demo before you announced it as a single because I liked it so much — I'm thrilled that it's on the album in its current form! So I'm in camp best kept group secret 😎 (p.s. thank you for being the nudge I needed to call back the hair salon to fix last week's haircut!)
