hello SDC : ) how are we? I'm still working through a heavy personal life thing so thank u again for your grace & patience with me at the moment. my artist alter ego Orla Gartland™ however is absolutely THRIVING and as we draw closer & closer to the album II announce there are a few fun things I wanted to relay / catch you up on

so I thought it might be fun for y'all to guess what the album cover looked like before I revealed it. I launched the 'ALBUM ARTWORK SKETCH CHALLENGE' last week (basically a big game of pictionary). watch this video for an explanation on the prompts & for info on how to get involved! you can click here to submit your version and click here to see the gallery of everyone else's (though if you're gonna have a go yourself I'd advise on holding back on looking at the others, so that u can have a totally unbiased guess). *please note that we're updating the gallery manually, so it may take a moment for yours to appear : )

another fun thing is that I have announced my next single for July 24th: THE HIT ! (surely to be a real hit. SURELY). I can't remember if y'all have heard this one before? anyways - I wrote it last year w my friends Tom & Lauren (the Kiss Ur Face dream team). It's a song about EMPATHY and FRIENDSHIP and THE PERILS OF CLOSENESS ! something cynical I think a lot about in my adult life is how almost every good thing has a downside (&vice versa) and I think this is a song about the cons of feeling close & connected to someone. as a truly empathetic creature I cannot help but follow someone I love down to their lowest lows or ride w them on their high highs and that's what this song is all about. the main lyric is 'and it's some kind of magic, some voodoo doll shit / you get the punch and I feel the hit". oooooOOOH

I'm excited for you to hear the final version of the THE HIT - if you'd like to pre-save the song you can do that here : ) I'm going to reveal a little SDC secret, too: I'll be announcing album 2 on the same day THE HIT comes out including revealing the front cover & launching the new merch store with vinyls, etc! AHHGHDFGNFKGFDJGNDKG

and the third & final piece of news I have for you is currently a secret, so a little heads up: in about 4 hours from now I will be announcing my very first US & CANADA headline full-band tour! It will be this November and I absolutely cannot believe this is finally happening. it's a serious bucket-list moment for me, something I've wanted to tick off since I first started making music all those yonks ago. all the details will be on the tour poster & posts going up on my socials at 5pm UK time today and I'll put a fresh post up here on Patreon with all the key info too.

I know soooO many of you in the SDC are Stateside and whilst I cannot hit up every single city in the whole friggin country it's a pretty comprehensive tour for someone at my level, so I'm hopeful a lot of you might be able to come. :) EEEEEK

that's it for now my sweet angels - love u so mucho and as always, thank u for your support! I see u all sharing your excitement on the social posts & elsewhere & I just appreciate it SOOOO much

my love always

OG

Whoaaaa so much going on! Cheering on OG™ and sending more hugs to OG¹ ( ノ ゚ー゚) ノ (totally giving away my age with this pre-emoji throwback but sure look) Re: new single, I remember stumbling across that little shuffle rhythm gem when I signed up for the gold tier. Very recognizable feeling and very catchy melody, I can't wait to hear what it sounds like in its full glory! And thanks so much for the creative prompts, I have actually been thinking that I'd love to do a little more design/illustration again, but for some reason I've been quite scared to start. Maybe this will get me out of my quiet comfort zone...
