demo 107: melodramatic (Patreon)

SHORT MONTH ALERT - so here I am folks, delivering your feb demo on the 28th.. : )

I present 'melodramatic', a song written in pieces over a long time (one of my favourite things about solo songwriting as opposed to co-writing w others btw - the ability to let something marinate and evolve over time at the back of your mind, the ability to pick it up & resume it now & again!)

the demo artwork (and attached image) is one of my most-used stickers on whatsapp.. it's this tiny little kitten with a love heart. to me it is such a specific MOOD (and I can directly trace the chorus lyric about the kitten in the doorway back to this sticker lol). essentially this is a song about being vulnerable and soft and a big loser ! how scary it feels to just own all of that, rather than put your walls up & protect yourself (*a habit of mine that I've been trying to fight). the older I get the more I want to simply own whatever I feel.. not deny or repress or pretend, just own

for the regulars - welcome back gang, y'all know the drill. as I prep for this upcoming mega tour I continue to be incredibly grateful for your collective support on here. touring is SO HIDEOUSLY EXPENSIVE and this month the SDC funds are being used to help pay for everything from the bus, accom, band wages.. a lot.
