demo 111: jenga brick (Patreon)

HEY SDC : )

I am a mere HOUR away from leaving to head to Glastonbury where I get to play a set tomorrow! lucky girl. I was unsure on what to write this time around so I decided to just tell the story of yesterday, when I accidentally cut my finger making lunch and freaked out that I wouldn't be able to play my glasto set (update - I'm fine - it's gonna be ouch but totally doable. the show will go on)

ANYWAY it'd really been quite a while since I'd been in a hospital so like those moments of panic often deliver I was served a giant slice of HUMBLE PIE and a valulable PERSPECTIVE SHIFT !!! sometimes life says sit the frick down, turbo girl.

if you joined the SDC in the last month, welcome! by being here you are tangibly helping to keep my artist project afloat - this month I have been using secret demo club funds to help purchase flights for my US run in August (festivals + supporting a band called Glass Animals) and towards visa costs for being a new crew member across the pond with us. whether you get to attend the shows or not you are filling my virtual tip jar every month - touring in particular is getting more & more expensive by the day and so I couldn't be more grateful! I literally could not do without you.

and so we get in a car to the a&e

I look at the other hurt people in front of me

a waiting room of people who almost could have died

everybody is just a baby on the inside

I've never been so relieved for a doctor

and I sat down all shaky and tried to explain to her

“can I play a show in 2 days from your point of view?”

and she really cared way more than she had to

she got out the bandages, all of the different kinds

and then she plastered me up with a little guy

my god it all could have been so much worse

and I restored my faith in the universe!!!
