hey y'all

I fleshed out one of the may song ideas into a full song.. here's an acoustic run through! I'm excited about this one. it's a song about sex & sexuality

If I always do what I am told

i’ll be bitter at fifty years old

I wasted my youth

I wasted my time

I wasted my worry on the little things

If you always just laugh it off

oh I won’t be opening up

we kissed on the bed

It messed with my head

Does that mean nothing to you?

I look at you and I know how I felt

all those summers ago, then I swore not to tell

I’m swallowed up whole by this catholic guilt

I don’t want to think about it

I’m trying to shake off the shame

When I’m wearing nothing but blame

Not easy cause when I close my eyes

I just think of touching you

This can’t be easy on his side

Laying there motionless each night

A head full of heat, skin, sweat and sin

Tangled up feet, clutching at sheets thinking

I look at her and I know how I felt

All those summers ago then I swore not to tell

I’m swallowed up by this catholic guilt

oh GOD

I don’t want to think about it

I love this so much - perfectly illustrates how I'm feeling right now - I'm forever envious of your songwriting skills 😍❤️❤️

So cool. I love the narrative feel and simplicity ... reminds me that I don't needa overthink it all and that music doesn't need to be complicated!

What drew said. GUITAR SOLO!!🤘🤘🤘 I'm not religious, so cannot relate to the guilt part, but I do see how this messes with your head. I'm sure you'll nurture this demo into a song proper 👍

Maureen

You're so good at encapsulating complex feelings with just a few words and your great guitar skills! I went to bed with this song stuck in my head and listened to it again right when I woke up this morning

I keep coming back to this song, I just love it so much & can relate hard

I love the verses I think the chorus needs 2-3 lines(even if they are similar). I'm no musician but the guitar in the chorus sound flat or sharp or non typical? is it there to mirror the unease in the lyric ?
