HEY SDC! here is your july demo, 'inside jokes'. a song - perhaps the last I'll ever write - about the relationship I sang about in 'freckle season'. I've been thinking a lot lately about time passing and how being in a relationship with someone means building this huge tapestry of  in jokes you're not even sure you understand anymore but they're f****ckckckcking funny.. and then when you drift from that person you're just left with this bank of memories and moments that no one else can relate to /remember with you.

lyrics:

do you still like the music I like?

I hear that band I think of that night

when you got mad at matt but he did nothing

then  you sat there on the sofa sulking

I, get better over time

but why did it never feel quite right?

I, think back and I feel everything

and nothing all at once

you and I never did grow

but did anybody else ever get that close?

I don’t know what I miss most

all I’ve got left are the inside jokes

(and no one else finds em funny)

always speaking in annoying accents

pretending that we weren’t just friends

I knew something was up but I couldn’t quite tell

I told the others it was going so well

I, get better over time

but why did it never feel quite right?

I, think back and I feel everything

and nothing all at once, i see it now

you and I never did grow

but did anybody else ever get that close?

I don’t know what I miss most

all I’ve got left are the inside jokes

(that no one else finds funny)

I was talking about how you hadn’t moved on

but then I sat down and wrote all these songs

you can walk the walk, and talk a big game

and you probably think I’m the same

but I, wish it was different

I, know that it could be

as always please let me know what you think! xx
