me, walking around central London, pondering where I'm at with the album. (I am following lockdown btw - been at home apart from these studio sessions w tom. lol that sounds so defensive, classic guilt).

I'm almost at the final stage of some of these tracks right now which is ridiculously exciting. also in the thick of planning album artwork - thank you for your amazing comments on my last post, about your fave album artwork. been working through the ones you mentioned and looooving it! wow I am truly grateful for the focus in this hellscape of a year. I'm hoping this album will be something special for all of u to feel ownership over too, as knowingly or not, you have been a huge part of this music :))

I'm so in love with the demo of Madison and think it's got that perfect head nodding foot tapping tempo and sound to it. But it's a version we already have and can freely listen to it whenever we want - so a newer different version would just be cool to have! Something I really love is when artists do Spotify Singles version of their songs. The original could be upbeat and the Spotify Singles versions are stripped and chilled and I LOVE them... especially when they bring in new sounds or genre bend it a little bit (although most of them are just uninspired acoustic guitar versions). Maybe take a listen to some examples of album versions vs Spotify Singles versions of songs and see how the vibe differs and maybe you could draw inspirations from that! I love Maggie Roger's SS version of Light On. The album version is a bit of a bop, but the SS version is vocals, acoustic guitar, piano and a light airy synth. Or Lauv's SS version of I Like Me Better is super stripped compared to its real version (drums do come in but they're really far back). Also Troye's acoustic version of My My My! is great - electric guitar and vocals only, it's super stripped but doesn't compromise on the tempo and you could still bop to it. I guess for me, Madison should be the speed that it is... I would love to hear it stripped back but not slowed down. Maybe for me, the perfect balance would be an interpretation of "how can you perform the demo version of Madison with only an electric guitar and a few other bits - no drums." I think if it's supposed to be a fun tongue in cheek song it should retain that character and be more of a foot tapper and not turn into a slow one
