hey gang! today i'm at home (in my new bedroom! oh mama) working on the next demo for you. EXCITING! the big house move across london cost me a lot more time than i'd hoped, but looks like I should still get this new demo to you before the month is through. :) in the meantime, I wanted to share a lil' something special with you!

in 2013 I was back home in Dublin, just kicking about, gearing up to release 'roots' EP. I was thinking about musicians I loved, groups of friends that wrote & gigged together (lucy rose/rae morris/bombay bicycle club, for example) and it reminded me what a magical, often instant connection there can be between creative souls. I was lucky enough to have some great fellow muso friends over in london (hudson taylor/gabrielle aplin/lauren aquilina & more) but very few in dublin, and so I was eager to make more of an effort to join forces with my music pals at home. that's how I got to be in Gavin James' family home, writing at his kitchen table with 2 guitars - no fancy session set up by managers, no 'speak to my people' carry on, just an idea I suggested to gav that he was up for! hoooorah.

that afternoon we wrote this song called 'same mistakes' & recorded it on my phone (hence the quality isn't the best! also enjoy some dodgy harmonies). we initially called it 'made up stories', but 'same mistakes' quickly made more sense to us. it was a song about being a relationship clutz & being totally smitten with someone but stumbling on every word & action, never knowing how to show how much you care! (saps, the pair of us).

i've always absolutely loved this song and would love to re-record & release it some day, but until now it remains a voice memo on my phone; gav's career took off at a crazy speed back home & understandably they wanted him to focus on promoting & gigging his solo material, rather than suddenly throwing a duet  into the mix. i understood 100% but always thought it a shame - we played it live in dublin a few times & I always felt a lil happy spark when we sang the chorus :)

and SO, here it is, brought to life again for all for you. listen, download it if you fancy.. my only request is that no one mentions it to gav! I could get in a little trouble from his management for uploading it, even just within our lil' club - managers get real funny about things like that. but I know you guys won't say anything. :) I TRUST YA.

let me know what you think and have a fab thursday!

xx

Very .... very nice. Love your voice here, and it blends quite well with Gavin's.

Well this is bladddy lovely. Your voices are so well suited and that the two drifting apart and then coming back together in the chorus is adorable. I seriously hope this gets put down properly one day!
