the lost music video: 'are you?' (Patreon)

SDC. how are you on this tuesday? I've got a fun one for u today.

let me set the scene: the year is 2018. I've began working w Claire AKA the best manager in the world and we've just released mega comeback single 'I go crazy'. the song I thought would follow was this one, called 'are you?' (some of u may remember it as a bonus demo way back at the time but it never came out officially). 

my friend Sammy Paul hears the song & we dream up this music video together; Sammy's friend Deeps is an amazing dancer & we thought how sick would it be to have a music vid that really championed Deeps & his totally joyous and infectious approach to movement - so we landed on this idea of him dancing to the song at the bus stop, getting stared at. Sammy was super busy at the time shooting music vids for dodie so we scrambled the shoot together pretty urgently, before the song was actually finished.

sadly - and I still beat myself up for it to this day - I decided not to release the song. it just simply didn't feel strong enough and I had been so proud of I Go Crazy.. too proud to let the follow-up feel like a bit of a let down. so I told Sammy who told the wonderful cast & crew of the video and it sat on a harddrive for 3+ years, never to be seen again *until* this summer (btw - Sammy was amazingly understanding about my change of heart - more amazing than he ever had to be).

Sammy had a chance to screen something new at Buffer fest and discussions arose around revisiting this ol' chestnut and editing it together to show the crowd in Toronto. I heard it went down a treat - I wasn't specifically named & the vid was presented more as Sammy's short film with music by me. Sammy edited it together and named the piece 'PUT YOUR WHOLE HEART IN IT', which I love. watching it again brought back amazing memories from this shoot time (and whole time in life) and I really wanted to share it with you, secret demo club.

this whole process made me learn a lot of lessons but at the very end of the tunnel came this - yes unlisted but it still exists - wonderful music video. please give it a watch and let me know what u think!
