SDC GANG - last day of the month - y’all know what that means! means it’s time for a little emo song from the girl who just always seems to resent January : )

this month I took the Adrianne Lenker songwriting course - it was made up of lots of zoom lectures & songshare sessions. The community that attended were so beautiful and it was very nourishing for my soul! This song came from one of the course homework prompts, all about following your intuition and disarming yourself a little by writing in an unfamiliar tuning. I cheated sliiiightly as I went for a tuning that was.. pretty much standard with some fun notes on the end! (EADGAD, if anyone’s wondering)

As always the mp3 is attached for safekeeping and your feedback is welcome!

HERE’S TO HOPING FEB WILL BE BETTER! Love you all so much SDC

Lyrics:

I can’t believe

all this time

it was so close

so close to breaking

and so close to falling apart

would I have done all differently

had I known?

nothing like a little crash landing

to change your perspective of everything

nothing like a little disaster

to bring everybody together

everything’s gonna be different from here

we’re on

high alert

never quite comfortable

I’ll let you be honest

and ask you again

how are you?

my guess is that you might be broken cause I am too

nothing like a little crash landing

to change your perspective of everything

nothing like a little disaster

to rally the troops together

everything’s gonna be different from here!

Getting more an more excited for this new album, Orla. You have a unique talent for translating the honesty of universal experience into song. I felt this one. Thank you for sharing.
