Happy Kupala!

Kupala Night is a Slavic celebration of ancient pagan origin marking the end of the summer solstice and the beginning of the harvest (midsummer).It's time to celebrate the sun, love, and sexuality. I wanted to give you a taste of my culture and ordered this beautiful art, hope you like it ; v ;

(It happens on different dates in various Slavic countries, but we are close enough ;)

That explains why about a quarter of the people I know from that region have birthdays from mid March to early April.

Had a friend of mine from church years ago talk about Kupala Night. His family observed it in conjunction with the Feast of St. John, they were Catholics of Polish decent. He gave us this little tradition, we’d go down to the river, fish, barbecue, drink, and as the sun went down we’d renew our baptismal vows in the water. I’d almost forgot, I always called it St. John’s day but it was Kupala night he was talking about. That’s great Pink, thanks for that

When are we getting the audio for this?

I just imagined Pink throwing wreaths on the river, then jumping over the fire and doing fortune-telling in the evening, of course - in ethnic dress and with flowers in her hair) Yes, I have a good imagination 😊

Ah so that's where those flower headdress pieces come from. Slavs definitely have an aesthetic to them
