This work was commissioned by Second of Many. A continuation of an older work; Villains' Nights Out from a couple of years ago.

3D Blocking

For a scene that involves quite a lot of characters, I would use 3D blocking either with Blender or in this case, pose app just to make sure I have a somewhat good perspective reference.

Sketch based on the pose app

I didn't follow the poses from the 3D blocking closely because they're generally posed unnaturally. They are mostly useful for perspective reference.

Refining the sketch

Before this stage, there were actually quite a few different iteration of characters position and arrangement, but I'm skipping those so that this post wouldn't be too long.

Started working on the lineart

Further work on lineart

Some changes on the details and their accessories were made, and I began drawing the other two characters at the back.

Flat colors with rough rendering

The background and atmosphere was design to be similar to the previous work (linked at the top of this post).

Rendering

The rendering for this piece was quite straightforward after the atmosphere was established, the challenge mostly came from the amount of details I had to render.

Final

The background characters on the floor were the last thing I rendered. I rendered them with similar style as the previous work, shaped with colors without lineart.

This is fantastic, you always leave me wanting more though, with the tease of the edges of the art. Cheers
