RAD3UM

So Alexander winters..!! So Sam is brits father?

Joshua Graybill

I wonder if Retribution is alive, or if someone can inherit his mantle.

Joshua Graybill

Yar, he clearly ends up over here at some point. I’m curious all of what he gets up to before this, but especially looking forward to what comes next.

Joshua Graybill

Ah, but Warner merely had a dream of Warin, and has been driven to balance the scales by retribution. The possibility of inheritance remains!

Joshua Graybill

Also, can anyone confirm if Retribution is mentioned as having a brother, or possibly just a counterpart/partner? Perhaps I just dreamed it, but I thought he was mentioned by Aster, or possibly Eugenia, but now I can’t find it again. I think he was only brought up in passing, once or twice, but the idea stuck. I’ve been considering him as Mitch’s possible identity, but now wonder if I imagined the whole thing.

Bruce Ewing

Felicia gets 1 demerit point for creating a Fist that is that easy to hack (without intervention from Serafina). ;) Cool that a laser works that well against a demon, since it's a light-based weapon. And if Abigail died once (offscreen) from radiation poisoning, then how come the baby lived? A bit strange, that.

MDeath

At one point aster(i believe) is talking with sam saying she met retribution but that he is very different than what/who he was.

MDeath

I dont actually remember it saying she died of radiation the only one that died i thought was irene. Could be worng though.

MDeath

*wrong. Roughly remember it saying she just passed out.

MDeath

I personally hope we get a 3 books talking about alex dealing with that out kingdom at end of faustering faust that he was preparing for. During these books could easily lead up to his rebirth and his participation in the war to come.

MDeath

Like faustering faust 4-6 although they will probably have a differnt name( maybe?)

Bruce Ewing

Abby asked, "Won't the radiation kill us?" Aster said, "Yes, it'll kill *you*, so it's a good thing you now have an immortality agreement." But perhaps Aster was making a theoretical statement there. Perhaps the perpetual youth agreement completely prevented Abby from dying.

MDeath

I remember her saying that but no actual deaths happening. Figured Sam just healed them because when he got back to apartment he was talking about deradiating them? Might just have to reread the last 4 chapters to double check myself lol

Joshua Graybill

Oh, I do think I remember that now. I’ll have to double check the exact wording in order to narrow down the possibilities.

Bruce Ewing

It never said she actually died. Aster said that Abby would die from it, but maybe it wasn't quite phrased right.

WilliamDArand

“Won’t radiation… kill us?” Abigail asked. “Definitely,” Aster said with a chuckle. “Good thing you’re immortally contracted. We’ll escape before it gets bad enough to kill us.”

Bruce Ewing

Yes, and then the portal failed, and they didn't escape for hours and hours. So they didn't escape when they thought they would -- it was much later. But Irene was conscious almost the whole time, and maybe she cast a spell to reduce the effects or something.

WilliamDArand

Sorry, i'm just confused. i have no idea where it said she died.

RAD3UM

That would be so cool! And maybe some books from the Cambels brothers sins they are coming to save Lilly and Cat

MDeath

Yeah didnt think she died and just got alot of radiation. They went into the cage to hide until ghe radiation got really bad (hiding from jena not radiation)

MDeath

Yeah gonna probably reread the whole thing at a reasonable pace now instead of gourging myself lol

MDeath

Yeah only sad part is i dont see a huge amount of individual books for vince and felix. Im sure he could do it but honestly the only one that actually had that kinda ending where alot of story could happen was FF but would love more from vince and felix. Hell i want a runner norwood story so we see "everything" that actually is happening

RAD3UM

Yeah, i agree 100%

LoC

So does Alex retain all his memories from his previous life even as a baby? Can’t imagine Abigail dealing with that. He’ll already be married! I know Rene kept his for the most part but he had an abusive childhood and I presume Alex had a relatively normal life up until he was sent to hell.

Drew Risch

1. I’m super fucking pumped for Faust round 2. 2. There is no better lineage for Alex than to be a Sammy child 3. I wish Tarja was here...

Dennis Erwin

I'd assume it would be more like a sudden recollection, similar to MM. Being born with full memory didn't do Alia any good, and I'd imagine it wouldn't go better for Alex. I can see the conversation looking back once he regained his memory: "No wonder he was always making deals with the other kids and never had to do his own homework..."

J B

It made q huge difference for Renee in MM - he knew just how good his second life was and apparently went out of his way to help keep it that way with the rest of his new family

J B

We have another hard link now between Inc Inc & Gus's story - Gus meets teenaged Alex.

Yissnakk

More than enough - Both know Miles, Melody knows Sam, the Winged Horn...Sam's story just takes place, so far, about 20-ish years earlier...The General is concurrent with SS. I suspect that the timeline for Kit and Lily to port to Sam's world is rapidly converging - exciting times!

Yissnakk

Open question to that - there was an empire vs empire war brewing at the end of FF3...and now he's in SS...is SS the same world just far into the future? Did Something bad happen to Alex and his family which landed them here instead? Both? I mean, this all sounds like "the Silent One's" world the way Leah/Amelia described it to Alex...did his push for modernization lead to the world that Sam and Gus now exist in? (no mention of other races in FF...) Sooo many questions!

Drew Risch

No, not the same world (or at least not what the empire vs empire war is referring to), and who knows how they die in their current plane? Could be old age or could be battle or assassination. All we know is he signed up for future reincarnations with his harem, and now we’re seeing that come to fruition.

Vlarto

Kit and lily must already be in the world, they have been trapped for twenty years in SS2, Alex is sixteen.

Vlarto

Kinda confused about the fist. I don’t recall in ssos2 anyone mentioning the fist was not recovered. I just assumed that the fist monument was the original?

J B

Remember C&C marketing? That's them

Tanner Lovelace

I assume it has to be after they leave Wal because that was the only time they abandoned their facilities. This book is post SSoSH3 so that could be when it happened.

Yissnakk

Did C&C Marketing get mentioned in Inc-Inc 1 or 2? I don't think so. They are first mentioned in SS1. Alex is 16 (supposedly - could be a fake ID ;)) at the time of SS2 - and no telling what will happen between IncInc 2 and 3 - will the pregnancy run a normal course? Will it be slowed? The "Incident" that gets referred to in SS1 and defined as Kat and Lily entering this world does not appear to have happened yet as of IncInc2. So since that has not apparently happened yet, how did the LF get there in that vault?

Yissnakk

But Lily and Kat have not yet appeared (that we know of) in the IncInc timeframe - remember that this part of the story is taking place somewhere around two decades prior to Swing Shift - so around about the time that Kat and Lily portalled over - but there has not been any mention of the "event" that happened when they crossed over either (could also have been in a different city than where Sam and co are located; they may have missed it!)

Yissnakk

yeah, yeah - got the re-up :) - but this very well could be the same world, just in the future a few hundred years - but you are probably right that it's another world...and this is the gathering storm!

Yissnakk

Alia was born with full memories of all of her ancestors, including some crazy people!

WilliamDArand

The event is the news broadcast mentioned in both Inc inc and Swing Shift

Yissnakk

Swing Shift was obvious :). I need to go back through Inc Inc - thinking it was more of a "oh hey! look at that on the news" then onward with the main story...

Vlarto

So did anyone else notice the other Fostering Faust name drop? “She needed a place to raise her daughter anyways. We’ll all be due around the same time. Apparently she’s going to name her baby Anna.” Not saying it is in reference to our favourite countess Anna ‘she’s made examples’ Brit but you never know. Perhaps this is how the whole gang ends up in that plane?

MDeath

Well with them being in SS2 i am almost positive you are correct.

Darwin Baide

Hmm does that make them all siblings tho

Phallusar

That's the succubus and her partner from the cages that'd be Anna's parents, not siblings with the others.

J B

Think of Alex Britt born as a son of Runner, raised around the Campbells, ‘Uncle’, Al, and the various protagonists they interact with - Sam, Renee, the Brute,...

J B

Wait... o shit... Anna reborn with Succubus, Imp, or Cambion abilities... gods help anyone attacking her second family!

Kori Prins

Only Irene died (9 times, 10 if the first was separate) from over...stimulation. Abby just passed out. None of them appeared to be harmed from the radiation. It was what allowed the portal to eventually be formed.

Kori Prins

I wonder if the Eugenia killed in FF is the same as the Judge...seems kind of a stretch at first glance, but it does line up loosely.

Kori Prins

I am not sure how you correlated Alexander from FF to Alexander Winters. Did I miss something somewhere? I don't think I ever saw Alexander's last name prior to taking the name Brit anywhere.

Kori Prins

I searched all three FF books for Winters and did not see any results.

Paul Sneddon

Could you imagine her face if it's true when Abby has Alex and she realizes it's that Alex?

Kori Prins

I don't think that would happen, if Abby's child is Alex from FF. The events wouldn't line up in a linear timeline. As far as I know, there is temporal speed manipulation, but no temporal location manipulation.

Vlarto

Just reread inc inc and I may have noticed another cameo. When Sam and the gang go though the portal to the higher planes they meet a voice who says. “That’s a good point. It’d be a lot like attempting to explain court politics to… a farmer,” said the woman. “Maybe the farmer could surprise you though… maybe… maybe he could… surprise everyone.” Claire from dungeon deposed perhaps?
