I might leave the old light connected as well but in fact the front light is pretty unrelated to my hatred of the tunnels as you can't really see much with it anyway. I hate the tunnels because they're damp, can be twisty, awkward when there's someone coming the other way (which you never can see properly until you crash into them) and because I wasn't sure how much width I have to play with. ie the tunnel light doesn't illuminate the boat! However - ever since I discovered having a massive wide-arc light at the back of the boat, shining up and around where I'm standing, I feel a lot happier about tunnels because I can see where I am and see along the length of the boat!
