Ascension to Warmaster
During the midst of the Rangdan Xenocides the noble navigator houses began to rumble with the rumors of rebellion. The Emperor, now knowing He could not longer split His attention between the front and His ongoing projects decided He would need to chose someone to lead the front in His stead. With that, He began to consider one of his children for the role of Warmaster. Several candidates were considered before the Emperor settled on one candidate alone, Ferchar Alden. The lord of the Third Legion, beloved by the majority of his siblings and the wider Imperium meant he would be the prime candidate to lead His forces in His absence. His choice even more sure after reports of a recent battle where Ferchar led the XYZ and ABC legions in a counterattack to finally force the Rangdan to a halt to allow a momentary breath for the central part of the front to prevent them from buckling. With this, He would hold a special ceremony aboard the Imperator Somnium to ascend Ferchar to the rank of Warmaster. Several other Primarchs were sent an invite that on the surface seemed to be just a chance to congratulate a brother for a well deserved promotion. However, it served a second purpose, to insure the presence of valid witnesses to allow His new command to be sent throughout the Imperium with ease. The Emperor rallied: Serus of the Hex Blades, Skira of the Anvil Bearers, Ingmar of the Frontiersguard, Octavian of the Ebon Gauntlets, Santiago of the Disciples of Life, Ambroise of the Argent Line, Ra’Gaazulk of the Adamantium Overlords, and finally Theseon of the Colossi. When Ferchar received an invitation from his father there was a mixed feeling of excitement and hesitation. He had little idea what would await him as he ordered the Highlander to the coordinates the Emperor had given to him. Upon arrival, the sight of several of his sibling’s flagships did little to ease his mind as he walked to the central bridge with his most trusted sons as well as the Nuckelavee in tow. Inside was the presentation of grand ceremony, Ferchar’s brothers standing to the right and left of each Emperor as He looked upon His son with pride. Important members of the Imperial Army, Valdor, and even the Queen of the Sisters of Silence present for this gathering. Ushering Ferchar closer, the Emperor putting a hand on His son’s shoulder as He addressed the rest of the gathered crowd. Despite the galaxy burning around us, despite the losses in what became uncountable, we stand. The Rangdan threat has pushed our resolve and defenses to the brink. Yet, we hold, and it has been due to your strength my beloved son that we have been able to hold together. It is now that I must tell you that my skills as a general must be put on hold so I might prevent this Imperium from cracking further. In my stead, I name you Warmaster. From this day forward, every army and Legion, every general and soldier, will heed your command as though it had come from my own mouth. You know your siblings, pride has ever been a defining quality, but they will obey you. Each is a weapon in your arsenal fitted to a purpose, unleash them in the manner you alone know best, rather than attempt to change who they are. Your siblings will stand with you, and with their might you shall vanquish this threat for good. There is still much to be done, but I know you can do this my son. Hail Ferchar, Warmaster of the Imperium, and the herald of my word! With this, he gave Ferchar a new weapon to fit his station of Warmaster. A volkite weapon known as the Kiln that would decimate Ferchar’s enemies with the wrath of the Emperor. After this, the Emperor left along with the gathered host until only Ferchar’s sons and brothers remained. Serus looked at Ferchar with a look of barely contained contempt. He handed a master crafted sword to Ferchar before leaving promptly as well. Ra’Gaazulk leaving after a few words of congratulations that seemed either extremely backhanded or sincere. With Octavian leaving after saying, “Hope your hands are willing to get as red as your hair brother.” The others stood around to offer more in depth congratulations. Skira honoring Ferchar with a handshake, a smile, and the words “it’s a thankless job Ferchar, but you are the best person to hold the world by his shoulders”. Something very rarely given from the Lord of the First. He would leave fairly quickly after that. Not being a man who enjoyed prolonged exposure at social events. The remaining four brothers would stay for longer, and it is with them that Ferchar would for a moment celebrate his ascension. Eventually, Ambroise, Santiago and Ingmar would leave for the front. Both of them needed to make sure the Imperium’s borders would not buckle under the ongoing conflict. This left Theseon and Ferchar alone on Ferchar’s flagship as he sobered and grew silent. For out of all of his brothers Theseon was the only one he could fully let his mask drop. He told him of the worry that he was not the man who should lead the Legions. That perhaps others should have been chosen instead. It was here that Theseon reminded Ferchar that all of his brothers listened to him. Not liked, but listened. That he was the only one outside of their father who could unite the Legions to fight this new threat. This was a power that should not be taken lightly, and it was something that Ferchar could wield with the respect that the position needed. With this, Theseon’s words reinvigorated Ferchar and the final Primarchs left to head back to the front. With this, Ferchar would face difficulty, but this would not be the most difficult war he would command as Warmaster. That was still to come, and it would truly set the galaxy on fire.
