We are working on updating our nesting and skin crafting system! We are currently making changes on how dragons incubate their eggs. Different bile types will need to use different techniques to keep their eggs in the perfect condition for hatching. For example, fire dragons will need to use their fire breath to heat the nests in order to achieve the optimal temperature. The above video shows how the nests will look when heated!

Naturally Halo

This is a very cool implementation! Players needing to actually heat the eggs instead of staying near the nest gives a new level of interactive play and is just all around an amazing idea

This is great in a way for astettics but for PvP its going to make nesting even more dangerous and tedious. I dont think this is a good move for pvp since its already hard to nest on a populated server. Having to basically make yourself a beacon to hatch eggs that can already take a while since the person taking the egg is going to making a skin I dont think is a good move. IRS are loud and will either have to light themselves on fire or breath on a nest. If an enemy is around they will hear it. Nesting spots that are well hidden are going to be found do to noise which is already a risk when you're getting food and water. Besides if you have to heat the nest multiple times its not going to be worth the risk nesting when people can just respawn. Nesters most likely won't want to nest unless they absolutely have to. It seems like all con's since its more for ascetic and really just gives more risk/complicated means for something thats already gotten to be a hassle with how nesting is and where its going.

Making nesting more complex was always on the roadmap of this game, this will make old patern on pvp different and interesting. I think that a fire dragon can nest as normal on a hot area, like near lava, like the frost dragon would nest normaly in the top mountain. So it would mainly change strategies, but considering it's way easier to get A stats dragon it would be well balanced

Kitten (Galaxy Kitten)

Okay? more complesx was already there with the pain of dealing with resesives if you're starting out it is not that easy to get an A stat dragon especially for newer smaller clans. Also we dont have any hot areas to use right now, things get implemented with no supported macanics like when bodies were not able to be carried anymore if they were not a hatchie and feeding things became a real pain before the meat chunk machanic as snappers dont give much food for what the are and bugs dont give much at all to a juvi flamer. Expecting people to breed in caves or with cover is fine but not when storms go through them and make everything wet anyway making a nest in able to be used in a flamers case.

The Timekeeper

Is there a plan to make this functional beyond incubation? By which I mean a nest heated/cooled/electrified/whatever would create a damage risk for a zygovo or other nest attacker? The maintenance of optimal incubation temperature usually means a combination of being "on" the nest and "off" it, so it's not as though there wouldn't be opportunities to strike a nest once the bile had worn out—i.e., constantly applying bile to a nest to protect it would ruin the incubation, either via egg death or bad stats—but it would demand additional strategy for a smaller and weaker dragon (such as the collection of a [element]-resistance pearl) for a unique gameplay experience.

The Timekeeper

While I agree with what you said with regards to implementation without support, as far as making nesting "even more dangerous and tedious," I honestly don't see a difference between this and an FS using its infrared vision to find nesting sites. Allowing other dragons without that skill to hear bile being used is just a lateral move rather than a step up or down. I also don't see why PvP should be easier for some players than others when literally the entire point of PvP is combat—not nesting—for everyone in that server. If nesting is "dangerous and tedious," don't do it.

Kitten (Galaxy Kitten)

No one just runs around in infrared all the time to find nests plus if you're on the right dragon and in the right place you can snif them out. Nesting is part and basicly half of the game and a needed thing you can't just "not do it". PvP is not just all fighting its about being strategic. You're normally not going to fight on a breeder thats not the point of them. Not every clan is going to have the means to protect a nester so its better to be able to be hidden. The map isnt that dense and it was already hard to hide a nesting dragon. You definitely dont need the fs ability to find them if you're looking. Theres not much coverage for this type of thing even more so since rain makes a flamers nest unusable if out of cover. Making a process that already takes a while while you risk your breeder even more. A full nest of anything makes your breeder need food and water once per nest this could push it from nesting times of 30 or so minutes to an hour or more depending on rain thats what's making it more tedious and dangerous. If all PvP was was just to fight it would be death match where all stats were even and no breeding would be needed to give an advantage.

The Timekeeper

If there are ways besides infrared to find nests, then there is no proof that a) implementing this change will cause additional harm, or b) not implementing this change will provide protection. Further, if PvP is about strategy, then strategize about PvP nesting beyond just "hide." Set traps for intruders, etc. It's wildly unrealistic to assume the "point" of breeders is somehow to never fight; while that might be an ideal plan, the truth is that "breeders"—in game or in reality—are literally the last line of defense for a nest unless they choose to abandon it. And if the nest is lost, yes, the time and energy that went into it are wasted, in game or in reality. Thus weighing nest defense against self-preservation is simply part of the survival PvP experience. As far as what "not every clan" is capable of in PvP, that is not a remotely valid reason to criticize a non-PvP game feature. First, there's no indication when this feature will be implemented, so we can't even say there wouldn't be support from, for example, the environment. Second, even if it WERE implemented tomorrow without support, the fact is that it doesn't matter—the mega-clan issue will never be resolved, or even slightly affected, by restricting non-PvP game features. Reducing the immersion of the game for a fantasy outcome is spitting into the wind. On an individual basis, yes—YOU can, in fact, not nest if you find it too burdensome. Instead, let the people willing to take the risk do it. It's clear you're not, which is your prerogative, so just don't. And if nobody is willing to do it, the PvP servers can be reduced to non-breeding, static-stat, sudden-death arenas—there seems to be a lot of interest in that anyway.

Kitten (Galaxy Kitten)

Okay first off it was implemented today way before you posted this. Second off I never said any of the stuff you're claiming I did which goes to show you're not understanding a point that I'm trying to bring up stop putting words in my mouth try to understand an opposing opinion. Never said no one would ever fight on a breeder I said normally you dont they're not built for fights. People are not going to want to babysit a nester thats nuts. All your responses are telling me you dont play PvP. A nester will almost always prio itself over a nest no one wants to have to regrow or even rebreed a lost dragon if it can't respawn. Didnt say not every clan is capable of PvP I said not everyone has the means to always protect a nester ie smaller clans or having to breed when you're clan is offline for yourself or for the few people that play that time zone. Never said anything about the mega clans this will still affect them to they're not on 24/7 dont have huge numbers 24/7. Again nesting is part of the game and its something I like to do HAVING to heat a nest 3times or more to incubate them is not something I want to do and I know plenty of other who have said the same. I dont play this game for the sudden death arenas clearly I play all aspects of this game if I'm talking about it. Also completely putting out the nest is crazy when a storm can be called. If heating your nest gave you an actual benefit like speeding up incubation or something fine but it just seems like hes nerfing flamers even more at this point. Aesthetically I agree this is a great update but not for PvP could have been purely for the ones who like to rp or kept it for pve. Dont sit here and argue with me if you're not willing to see the other side of things. Thanks.
