Lore Writer's Blog: Part 2 - We Wrestle Not With Flesh & Blood (Patreon)

Greetings Patrons, it's time for Part 2 of our monthly Lore-Writer's Blog. 

Last week we briefly talked about the Elementals and asked the question, where did they come from? How did they get here? Why are they here? and What are they?

In the world of Jrakhon, the night sky is flooded with stars, along with auroras in the frigid northern polar region. But the stars and auroras are not alone in the night sky, among them is Jrakhon's sole moon, Nharogk. Nharogk is a volcanic moon, orbiting close to the planet and is prone to frequent violent eruptions which often make for meteor showers in Jrakhon's night sky. Historians tell of some eruptions so powerful that the shockwave caused tornados on the planet's surface. 

Nharogk is also not without its own lifeforms. Legends tell of giant creatures that roam the moon's surface. The Firstborne encountered these creatures which were called "Elementals" for their ability to mimic the elements of the Dragons such as fire, ice, and lightning. They are said to have arrived on Jrakhon at times when the moon's surface cracks and violent and terrible eruptions burst blowing chunks of the moon's surface into space and often into the planet's atmosphere. 

Every Hatchling has heard their parents tell the story of the Fire Purge. An Elemental Army of Fire Rocks marched into the Lava lands, killing and devouring the Fire Dragons, never quenching their insatiable hunger for dragon bile. With their home destroyed and their numbers failing, the Fire Dragons sent fliers to the polar region calling for help from the great Ice Drakes of the North who honored their ancient alliance with the Fire Dragons and destroyed the Magma Nharoks saving the Fire Dragons from extinction. Stories have been told that some Fire Dragons end up missing in the Lava Lands leading some to believe that not all of the Elementals were destroyed, and that some survived and fled into darkness hiding in the planet's volcanic caves, caves that only the bravest of Dragons dare venture into.

One thing is for certain, the Elementals cannot be reasoned with, they do not belong on Jrakhon, and they cannot be allowed to grow strong enough to attempt another purge..
