Once we are ready to add the models into the game, Jia Hao has a lot of work to do preparing them for gameplay.First we let him know the general size of the model. We use one of the placeholders as a comparison. He then adds details like muscles and more detailed scales. We check the model one last time and the triangle count. Then, Hao works on the morph targets so that the models can have dynamic growth from hatchling, to adult, to alpha. It is Bad Parrot's job to make sure the babies are cute. At this stage, we also decided the babies should not have tail spines when they first hatch. Then, Jao checks over the textures and skins in the engine, pointing out any errors with the skin placement, like scale textures on the spines. Once it has passed this stage, it is sent to Karly for rigging!Since the Acid Spitter was the first model prepared for gameplay, this is when we also determined the "break" pattern for the eggs.Overall it is a very long process that can take a few weeks to complete, but the results are worth the wait.
