Deep in the Shimmering Caverns, under the surface of Jrakhon, lives a unique dragon species unlike any other. This dragon, known only as the Bioluminescent (Bio) Dragon, is known for its beauty and speed.As its name suggests, the Bio Dragon can display a bioluminescent light to his skin and appendages. To obtain this effect, the dragon contracts and expands color pigments in its cells which are visible under its delicate scales. While this may make it a beacon in other biomes, this mechanic makes it perfectly camouflaged into its native home of the Shimmering Caverns.The Shimmering Caverns are a system of caves deep within the world. Filled with Bioluminescent algae and microorganisms, these caves put off a mesmerizing light and glow. Its tight tunnels and walls make it difficult for large, flighted dragons to maneuver, forcing some to stay grounded. However, the Bio Dragon has adapted perfectly to this environment.The Bio Dragon has developed a unique flight system, similar to that of Earthborne Hummingbirds. These dragons flap their wings as such as speed which allows them to hover in place, fly at great speeds, and move in any direction seamlessly. This makes the Bio Dragon the only dragon who can fly backwards. The Bio Dragon can stay airborne for long periods of time, as their stamina drains very slowly. However, to keep up this fast-paced lifestyle, Bio Dragons must continually look for food so they do not starve.Plant nectar is the preferred food for satisfying their demanding hunger. The caverns are full of blooming plants that the Bio Dragon feeds from. However, once emptied, it takes time for the plants to restore their nectar stock and Bio Dragons will need to find other sources as well. Some Bios have been observed feeding on insects, though this is rare due to the Bio’s weak attacks and the time it takes to dispatch a prey item.

The plants, which the Bio Dragons feed from, contain a toxic chemical to discourage herbivores from feasting on their leaves. The Bio Dragon takes advantage of the plant’s defense mechanism and builds it into its own. Because of this, Bio Dragon flesh is known to cause Sickness is carnivorous dragon species.
