Important Notice: Updates to Billing for iOS Users & Subscription Renewal Timing

Hey Everyone!

We have some important updates regarding subscription billing and renewal timing on Patreon due to recent changes in Apple’s requirements.

We want to share the change and how you can avoid it costing you more money!

The Change to Billing for iOS Users

Starting from 4th November 2024, Patreon subscriptions iOS and the app store will switch to Apple’s in-app purchase system to comply with App Store policies. Due to Apple’s new requirement, Patreon will now operate on a subscription model, which includes a 30% fee on in-app purchases. This may increase tier prices on iOS by approximately 30-40% for new members (Apple’s fee will not impact your existing members. It will only affect new memberships purchased in the iOS app from November onward).

To avoid these extra costs, we recommend making payments through the Patreon website instead!; you’ll still be able to access content on the iOS app without any added charges.

New Renewal Timing under [Subscription Billing Model] for All New Members

Alongside this billing change, we are updating the subscription renewal timing for all new members, regardless of whether you use iOS, Android, or the website. Previously, all subscriptions were renewed at the beginning of each month, regardless of your sign-up date. Now, your renewal date will align with the day you joined, similar to other services like Spotify. This means that if you join near the end of the month, you won’t face a renewal charge again within a few days.

Important Notes for Longtime Subscribers: If you have been subscribed to us before November, your billing will continue on the first of each month, and as long as you don’t change tiers or cancel, your rate will remain unaffected by these changes for ios users as well. 

These adjustments apply across all Patreon channels, so you can use this approach with other creators you support as well.

みなさんいつもLearn Shamisenで三味線を学んでくださりありがとうございます！

Appleの新しい要件に基づき、Appleのアプリ内購入ティアー価格と、Patreonでの請求モデルに関する重要な変更がありますので、皆さんにお知らせします。また、この変更でティアーの価格に影響が出ない方法もご紹介します。

iOSユーザー向けのティアー価格 変更について

2024年11月4日から、Patreonのサブスクリプション（有料会員登録）は、App Storeのポリシーに従うため、iOSとアプリストアにおいてAppleのアプリ内課金システムに切り替わります。また、Appleの新しい要件により、Patreonの請求モデルも「サブスクリプション」モデルで運営されることになり、アプリ内購入に30%の手数料が含まれるため、新規メンバーのiOSでのティアー価格が約30～40%増加する可能性があります（この手数料は既存のメンバーには影響しません。11月以降にiOSアプリで新規加入される方のみが対象です。） 

このティアー価格の増額を避けるためには、Patreonのウェブサイトから登録・お支払いすることをお勧めします！その方法であれば、追加料金なしでiOSアプリからコンテンツにアクセスもできます。

新規メンバー向け [サブスクリプション請求モデル] の更新タイミングについて

上記変更と併せて、新規メンバー全員に対して、請求および更新タイミングも「サブスクリプション請求モデル」へ変更します。iOS、Android、ウェブサイトのいずれを使用していてもこの変更が適用されます。これまで、サブスクリプションの更新は加入日に関わらず毎月の初めに行われていましたが、今後はSpotifyなどの他サービスと同様に、加入日に合わせて更新されるようになります。これにより、月末に加入しても数日後に再度更新料金が発生する心配がなくなります。

長期メンバーへの重要なお知らせ：もし11月以前からご登録いただいている場合、請求は引き続き毎月初めの1日に行われます。また、ティアー変更やキャンセルをしない限り、iOSユーザーも含め、これらの変更によって料金は影響を受けません。

この調整はすべてのPatreonチャンネルに適用されるため、他のクリエイターをサポートしている場合も同様の方法がご利用いただけます。
