Could you post some dedicated technique practice videos? More on tsubo placing precision, kamashi and chiri-tere (and maybe variations) are some suggestions!

Cristian Valentin

Will the finger position will be in every video now ?

Dan Deming

For hajiki, how do you keep from sounding the higher tsubo when plucking the string with your ring finger? For example, if I am holding tsubo 3 with my index finger, when I do hajiki with my ring finger I always play tsubo 4 with my ring finger instead of a pure tsubo 3 sound.

Do you have any favorite stores (online and in person) that you like two go to for shamisen accessories?

Daisuke Hotta

If you still accept questions... In Nidan, there's a phrase where you need to apply sukui at position 6 (pressed with the index finger), immediately strike position 9 (pressed with the ring finger) twice, and then come back to position 6 again. My fingers are apparently too short and cannot hold positions 6 and 9 at the same time. I've tried slightly sliding my index finger so that the ring finger reaches position 9 that's far down, but that's awkward and destroys the rhythm. Any advice for short-fingered guys like me?

How do you do a clean sukui or upstroke?

Dan Deming

How tall is the Koma you use?

Pedro Lopes

Can you give us some general explanations about the different tuning scales for shamisen, and context of use for them?

MatGuy

Could you play with the different Bachis so that we can hear the difference in sound? Also the same thing with different strings (thickness and material) would be great :)

Daisuke Hotta

It appears that tuning hasn't been explained anywhere in this course (apologies if I missed anything). It would be extremely helpful for everyone if you could make a video covering what Honchoshi, Niagari, and Sansagari are, what 4-hon, 5-hon, ... mean, and how to use a tuner (or a pitch whistle). Also, in each lesson video, please explain which tune you use in the lesson either in the beginning of the lesson or in the text description in Patreon page. When tuning to C-G-C, it appears that setting string #2 slightly higher than what the tuner indicates as exact G makes sawari effect much better and brighter. I do not know if this is just a peculiarity of my instrument but, assuming it's a general feature of shamisen, should we just believe what a tuner says or should we maximize sawari effect, or Is it just a matter of taste?
