SFW is important because it doesn't just show them existing as they are; it also gives your readers a clear idea of who they are and what makes them unique. Like what are their origins? What are their hobbies? Goals? Fears? Regrets? Likes? Dislikes? et. It's what makes them complex characters. I read the comics and I think you already covered most of them! ^^

I had a similar impression but I think that it's just the remaining construction lines that seem to be wrinkles, especially under their eyes.
