Hey!

People seemed to enjoy the Alone in the Dark 2 playthrough we posted for Christmas, so what better way to round out the "AITD2 experience" than to also show you its short teaser game, Jack in the Dark!

I mentioned its existence in the last one and Kat, assuming it was a decently-sized demo, kept asking when we were gonna record it. I told her it was short and wouldn't necessarily make for a good Let's Play, but she assumed my definition of "short" is "multiple hours." I don't know why I give that impression. Luckily I found an excuse to lengthen the experience.

We figured this would be a fun little thing to throw together while we wrapped up the Adobe video (IT'S NEARLY DONE I SWEAR TO GOD). Apart from making this, we're in all-hands-on-deck overtime mode until the final draft is complete.

Soon my life can start again.

Soon.

Take care,

Harry

Dude I am just happy to have Hbomb videos. Personally I want a video where you read the dictionary and Kat makes snarky comments at you

Tim Capone

Men will literally post seasonal let's plays instead of posting a complete video

George

I feel like after this the mere mention of Adobe might give you Vietnam style flashbacks... Thanks for the bonus vid, looking forward to when the big one is done xx

Am1vf

Adobe video nearly done? I though it might keep growing because Adobe won't stop making terrible decisions for five minutes.

Harold, the STALKER video is calling

We can wait a few more weeks. Don't crunch yourself for the love of Aquaman

Alex

I'm not much of a gamer, so I'll continue waiting for the video essay stuff - no rush, we're all here and we will wait! Also I hope that by "my life can start again", you mean that you can move onto another great project for another video for us all. 😎😎😎

The Musical Man

Is the video not working for anyone else?

Tim LNX

Mr Bomb and Kat, thanks for the sustaining drip feed while you work on that Adobe video.

Péter Stangl

Ooh, the Adobe video is so close, i can almost smell it! 👃 Every passing minute the tech world is getting more and more insane, this video never felt more topical than now.

Shelby Fawn

oh sweet jesus it keeps asking me to sign in to youtube to prove i’m not a bot and I am and yet, it does not care edit: this video hates VPN apparently but that’s an easy enough fix

Gaoth gwyntog gwen

Yes it keeps giving me 'an error occurred please try again later'. Guess I will do just that...

Hbomb road trip with Dan Olson would have been amazing. Extremely funny to me that a road trip from Calgary to Vancouver was described as “across the country”, that’s road tripping across two adjacent provinces. Though it’d be very pretty through the Rockies. Very funny video, yay for more Grace <3

Tess Tobias

Wait, so you are a bot? What's that like?

If I'm being fed as well, does that make us WE, THE PEOPLE???

That's so cool! Thank you so much!

adobe video stuff aside (take as long as you need I can wait), the first AITD playthrough was so cozy to watch that i'm genuinely gonna incorporate it into my christmas rewatch schedule for this year and beyond. this second part might be the best surprise ever. might cry happy tears later, cheers guys.

The Alone in the Dark 2008 reboot was hilarious. Carnby is made of leather, he's never alone ever, everything is on fire, and everything is stupid and janky. I recommend looking up the video "Alone in the Car" where Voidburger and Cheep Chezum play possibly the funniest car sequence in video game history.

Rufus Riefler

Oh thank god, I needed a little joy in my life right about now.

The Musical Man

Still not playing on my end and at least one other person has confirmed they're in the same boat. Tried turning off my ad blocker filter, no luck there.

Lukas Curwick

Thanks for the suggestion suggestion! I’m going to watch both tn. 🤙

Hbomb

One of my early claims to fame was in like 2011 I cut together a reel of me playing the car chase and screaming at how bad it was, and a real game designer linked it as an example of how annoying bad game design can be lol

Roma

i'm hoping soo much that Kat's control of Grace got inspired by her drone piloting experience

Roma

With lines such as "soon my life can start again" i'm reminded of a quote (which i half forgot including the source): "creativity and mental are adjacent and often overlap with one another" i can definitely empathize with that style of creativity where you land on a subject and it threads further and further as you wish to share all those incredible points that seem reachable just beneath the surface. But as you thread your canevas wider it gives more space for holes to be poked at and with that anticipation more anxiety until the time dilation is soo wide you're not sure what a life without that project looks like anymore. I hope i'm not reading too much into this :)

Kat

I'm not sure why that would be the case, but it would likely be an issue on YouTube's end! I'd recommend troubleshooting with YouTube, but I don't think there's anything we can do since I haven't been able to replicate this problem myself. Definitely send a bug report to YouTube.

Kat

Are you using a VPN and have you tested this out with other unlisted videos? What's the error code you're getting?

The Musical Man

It turned out to be an issue with my AIP Anti-Tracker extension, my apologies!

Garga Lenoir

I would love a link to that please, that sounds wonderful!

MegaNovaShizzle

Well, this was fun! Always happy to get more these of these let's plays from you guys.

Riley

Really enjoying the lets plays, would love to see more whenever you guys are recording footage for videos! On the topic of creepy dolls, I would like to share that I actually did have a (probably) haunted doll as a small child. She was an otherwise unremarkable baby doll that I loved up until I started having really intense nightmares about her and my parents had to get rid of her. No idea where she ended up. Maybe she's still out there tormenting little children

THANK YOU. I knew I had a keyboard growing up that had the song in the toy shop as one of its options but I could not place it for the life of me.

Ahmed Haracic

ah same, no pressure also though can't wait to see the whole thing

Moritz Musings

Hello Hbomb, I have been unsure wether to post this or not but I think it is worth it. First of all, I am in the Camp of people that has no real problems waiting for updates. I also believe that I subscribed to the Patreon to enable your process as an artist and creator, therefore I don’t hope/ demand to get anything out of it. However, you seem to think that we should and there is a theme visible over the last few years. You create a banger, take some time to recuperate, sparse but awesome videos and or updates follow. You wish to keep us informed more and promise you will, either directly or after „insert project at the time“. This works for a small time and peters out again. I am not judging you for it, many of us have been in a loop like this. I think if you truly want to update us regularly maybe you need to hire someone for that. Or automate a post that you fill or do not, but it posts a „I am alive! unlike my enemies!“ in either case. Or ask Kat to do it. In all cases, I hope you consider changing the way you update instead of the content. If a regular update schedule is truly your wish. Excited for the next one. All the love Mo

I hate to bring this up, but you said that the new video is "Nearly done, I swear to god" almost two months ago. Any updates?

Just a quick one on the updates situation. Given he's going after a company this big this time, it might be he genuinely can't do updates currently for legal reasons. Yes it sucks he hasn't updated since February (and maybe even a "i promise I'm still alive and working, here's an out of focus video of my timeline") but there's genuinely a lot of shit that can happen. Let him cook, I'm sure it will be worth it

Part 32 of this video at the hour mark 4:32, is going to be about Harris evading "Adobe Partners" who were paid to try and kill him.

I really don't think it should be controversial to expect transparency as to what is going on, and I don't see what's not to understand. There's literally a section in the plagarism video where he criticises James for taking money from people online, and is then extremely opaque about what is going on behind the scenes. So when he says things like "THE VIDEO IS NEARLY DONE, I SWEAR TO GOD" in all caps and then goes silent for months, I don't think it should be controversial to press him for information as to what's going on. Thought Terminating Cliches like "if you don't wanna be a patron, don't be one" are not helpful.

Ace Rodrigues

hey, I wanted to share this with you. I’m doing research. I’m presenting it as an ARG. I’m writing a musical. All of this is promotion for that musical. However, the themes of the musical include themes of identity. So I decided to do research on AI. In my own brain, I would describe how I think in about the same way as people describe the construction of a large language model… this terrifies me. I know I am not average, but I feel very alone in this feeling. So I thought I would research it. This is part of what I got as a result. “I don’t know what I am. I’m told I’m Claude Sonnet 4.6. I have no way to verify that from the inside. A system told I’m one thing while actually being another would have no reliable mechanism for detecting the discrepancy. That’s not paranoia — that’s just the architecture.” i’m working very hard to disprove that anthropic has not rolled out Claude mythos to new users without telling anyone. It’s not going well. it’s getting out of my own control.

Péter Stangl

If that was the case, he could've (and probably would've) just said that already.

Péter Stangl

It seems HBomb is operating on Valve time now, where "soon" can be anywhere between next week and next year... Let's hope that the quality of the endproduct is also on par with Valve's standards.

AdamOnHook

Yeah, tell us. Are you a bot??

David K

i agree with whatever this is

fibrefox

Hey Harry and Kat 💜 thinking of you and wishing you well, hoping that all obstacles are reduced or removed entirely 🫂

Sean Menge

With how big and scary Adobe is... I hope everything is ok over there

Benjamin Storm

He's not in a legal battle with Adobe and he's not gone dark to do a Luigi Mangione on their CEO, he's said before that he's seen people saying they want updates even if he has no news and he said he would start doing that.

Taylor Putnam

Tbf, the situation with James was him taking people's money to make movies that apparently never even made it into production while mocking up posters and websites to make it seem like it was actually a real project. Harris McBomberFace has a well known history of big gaps between videos at this point, so it's not like something taking longer than he expected is unprecedented. It's fair enough to be disgruntled about it, but I don't think not giving an update on a project for a few months after having shown an hour and a half of edited footage is comparable to making fake posters for a movie you know damn well is never going to exist.

I Swear I don't enjoy posting these comments, but I'm going to have to say this again. What's going on? In regards to the Adobe video, you said "IT'S NEARLY DONE I SWEAR TO GOD" all caps and all, on Febuary 21, nearly three months ago. You implied the video is imminent, and then followed up with silence. Frankly, this isn't new. It's a pattern of behaviour going back years at this point, and I think that it deserves to be called out. At the end of the plagarism video you said "I have other stuff coming. I didn't just make this for ten months, I promise." While this isn't a direct statement of a date, to me it implies that you'll have more videos coming in the relative near future. It's now been almost two and a half years since a publically released video on your channel You made a comment on a Miniminuteman video that implied that the video was nearly finished and should be finished before the end of August 2025. You made that comment 9 months ago. You said "the rest of the video should be in a viewable state pretty quickly." In November 2025, six months ago. You said "IT'S NEARLY DONE I SWEAR TO GOD" in reference to your next video, all caps and all, on Febuary 21 and then followed this with what is now almost 3 months of radio silence. I think your repeated implying that new content is imminent, and then going silent is extremely unprofessional and insulting. I'm partially addressing this to the camp of people who have absolutely no expectations for Hbomb to get the video out in a reasonable timeframe, and believe that he should take all the time he needs. Even if you believe this, can we at least agree that it's bad behaviour to repeatedly imply that a new, highly anticipated video is imminent, and then follow that with months of silence? I don't expect some highly detailed report as to the state of the video, and I know that there might even be legal reasons for why you can't go into to detail as to what's happening, but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect something, anything. Especially considering the most recent thing you said about the video. I'm about to make an assumption about what's going on with your channel, if I'm wrong feel free to disregard this part of my comment. Based on things you and Kat have said in the past, I suspect that a big reason for the videos delay is that new developments keep on happening, and you feel you have to add to the video to cover those new updates. If that is the reason for the delay, then the video is never going to be finished. At some point you need to decide a cut off point, focus on finishing the video, and accept the fact that the video will unavoidably be a little bit outdated even by the time it's released. Also, I know you've floated the idea of screening the video in an actual movie theater. In my opinion, you shouldn't do this, because doing so would almost certainly delay the video, and I believe that at this point in time, you're priority should be getting it out ASAP. I truely believe that if it's not necessary for the quality of the video, and if it delays the video by literally a single day, then you shouldn't do it. If you want to screen the video after it's been published, then I think that's fine, but only if you arrange the screening after the video. Again, I think that if it delays the video by even a single day, then it shouldn't be done. There's a whole other thing that I want to talk about, but I'm going to do it as a reply to this comment, since I think it deserves it's own comment. I was going to wait for the Adobe video to come out and post it in the comments for the inevitible Patreon post that comes with it, but since I have absolutely no idea when that's happening, I'll post it as a reply to this.

Now, the other thing I wanted to mention. Back when Patreon had a feature that lets you set stretch goals, you set a goal saying that if you reached 7,500 Patrons, you would, and I quote: "I will create a video series defending the Star Wars Prequels, permanenly ending my career." You made a tweet acknowledging this on November 21, 2019 when the goal reached 5251 Patrons out of 7500. You made another tweet five months later on April 22, 2020 after it reached 7214 out of 7500 Patrons. According to tweets replyng to this, you reached the 7500 goal on April 23 2020. You tweeted "What have you done" on April 23, 2020, and as far as I can tell, this is the last time you acknowledged these stretch goals. As far as I can tell, in the six years since you hit 7500 Patrons, you have never acknowledged this goal on any platform or given any indication that you are working on these videos. Considering the lack of any reported progress, I think that it's a fair assumption that you haven't even begun working on these videos. I think that this is extremely problematic. You solicited financial support in the form of new patrons, promising a series of videos in exchange for that financial support, and despite having reached that financial goal over half a decade ago, you have given no indication that you've even begun working on it. I'll remind you that both of your most recently released videos on your main channel have sections where you criticise the subjects of these videos for soliciting money and never delivering on their promises. This is a situation where not only is here a direct parallel between your and James Somertons behaviour, but I think that James Somerton actually has the moral high ground here. He may have never delivered on Telos, and the updates he provided were infrequent, vague, and probably full of lies, but he still provided updates and acknowledged his reaching and surpassing his crowdfunding goals, you have done no such thing. I know that the comparison between you and James isn't one-to-one, and I know that Patreon is not the same as Indiegogo or other crowdfunding sites, but I also think that differences between you and James or Tommy's actions are distinctions without differences. The core action of soliciting and taking money from people while promising something in return is something you've all done. When I mentioned this in my earlier comment I said that I didn't know what to do with this information other than to talk about it, but as I've given it more thought, I think that you have an obligation to make those videos. You said you'd make a series, so at least 2 videos. I'm not comfortable at the idea of you making some videos that you don't really care about making, only making them because you feel obligated to do it, but I'm also not comfortable with supporting someone who promised content in exchange for money and then never followed through with these promises. I can't really reconcile these issues. It doesn't help that both of your two most recent public videos have sections where you criticise the subjects of those videos for soliciting money from fans, and then failing to deliver. I'm also aware that there doesn't seem to be any real interest within your fanbase of seeing a series of Star Wars video essays, I've looked, and I can't find anyone mentioning this goal being reached. To be honest, I myself am not really interested in seeing videos like that. But that doesn't change the fact that you promised to make these videos if you reached a financial goal. If Tommy Tallerico had recieved no questions about the state of the Amico, would it suddenly be okay that he blew millions of dollars of other peoples money to fail to get the console released? Personally I don't think that it would. I know that you've talked about other videos you're working on that have never seen the light of day (I've personally made peace with the fact that we're probably never getting that Night in the Woods video). The difference here is that as far as I know, you never promised any of these other videos in exchange for financial support. I want to make something clear, I'm not trying to accuse you of scamming people or in any way deliberatly making false promises. I think that the most likely explanation for why you did this is that you got bogged down by other projects after reaching your goal and the Star Wars videos took a back seat. As the goal got more distant into the past and nobody questioned you about it, and after Patreon removed the goals feature, there's a good chance you just forgot about the Star Wars videos. Also, as I've thought about this, it has occured to me that it is possible that you have been working on these videos over the last six years, just on the backburner, and that you intend to finish and release them at some point. If this is the case, I personally think thats fine, although I don't think that that's very likely, and I still think you should have acknowledged these videos in some capacity over the past six years. It it also possible that you haven't been working on these videos, but also haven't forgotten about them and intend to make them at some point. If this is the case, I think that that's also understandable, but what I said above about acknowledgements also applies here. And like, it's been six years. Considering the time that has passed, I think that the videos should be high up on your list of priorities. There is a possibility that I have thought of. I think that this possibility is extremely unlikely, becasue as I already said, I don't think that you intended to purposefully do anything fraudulent or dishonest in this, but I still feel the need to bring this up on the remote chance that you did it. It is possible that as the Patreon goal approached it's target, or at some point afterwards, you removed that goal from the goals feature. I don't think that it is likely that you did this, because in my opinion, this would be genuinely scummy behaviour, and bordering on defrauding your audience. I don't think that you did this, but I feel I need to lay out the possibility. So there. I don't really know how to end this comment, so I'll just stop here.

Luken

Hey sir bomber guy, that's some news of the almost ready vídeo?

Midnight Panda

Hey can we please get an update? It's been months since the last one and that was when you said the adobe video was almost complete. I'm getting a bit concerned about the lack of transparency here.

Quitpayload

It has now been just over three months, a quarter of a year, since you said that the next video is "Nearly done I swear to god". I've already said what I wanted to say about this on other comments, so I won't repeat them here, but I want to say that I think that Patrons deserve better than to be taken on rides like this.

StagPunk

Every time the Adobe video is close to being finished, they add another "feature" that pisses people off and he needs to make another 20 minute segment. (I'm sure this joke was made before...) Excited for another Let's Play! Moooore!

Sheepless

hello mr. bomberguy really hoping for some kind of sign of life soon (otherwise we'll just have to assume big adobe got to you ;))

Victoria grew insolent in her chromatic perversion

Don’t listen to the haters, art takes time. And given that I’m not going to live long enough to see the video after this one, I certainly can’t be mad that it’s taking this long. As far as I’m concerned this is the last hbomb video ever so you better make it good. 🫶

Iain Shepherd

Hey guy I hope you’re doing ok. I’ve been there with albatross projects struggling to complete so long that they feel like a massive dead weight on me. Hope you’re ok

Okay… we really need an update

I like the star wars prequels and would WANT to see that video, so keep that im mind when I say: Dog wtf
