MEASURED RESPONSE: SOY BOYS - BACKER VERSION (Patreon)

Here's the backer version of the Soy Boy video. This is going up for everyone else once I finish editing some bonus stuff I can put up with it, along with a piece about the Soy Boy Diet itself, which ended up not even getting a look in in this video because there was so much other stuff to cover! I'm not going to charge for that one, since it's really just a part of this project that started needing more room.

Let me know what you think and any changes you think I should make before it goes up proper. This version doesn't have credits over the ending sequence yet, there's some music I think I want to change, and the more I listen back to it, the more I want to re-dub some of the live segments (I think the mic I used for those bits has died? Uh-oh!)

This month coming, after the bonus stuff related to this, I'm working on videos about Night in the Woods, Deus Ex Human Revolution, the next Scanline with Shannon, and I'm toying with some smaller stuff about PragerU, nationalising the british rail service, and keynesian economics, which I don't know will be worth putting out yet. I've mentioned I wanna do some smaller videos in the future but I want them to be good if I do them :)

Thanks again for backing me. I know I always say that, but it's always amazing.

Hbomb is a white guy, they need to find *SOME* way to drop a slur on him.

Kilo Lima Oscar

Crack open a cold one with your soy boys

Jonathan Reynolds

Phenomenal as usual. Hilarious with the right dose of sobering legitimate research. Worth every penny!

Pavel A

SOY BOY is so last month. I'm a... a SOY YOB!

Calysto

i noticed a typo at 22:03 i believe. it says "not how far use works" instead of, i'm guessing "fair use"?

Scout

^^^^

Calysto

also i'm dreading what the internet will do with that footage of you getting soy milk poured over your head 🙈

Max S

yeah I came to post this

Alex Bryson

Same. You make one typo in a 30 minute video and this is the thanks you get

Hbomb

Thanks!! I owe you one

Alice

"my dick is wet with the soy" is a good quote

Steeeeve

Debunking nonsense is important, but I feel as though the mindset behind this shit is the real problem. It was really gratifying to hear you talk a little about why people believe in this stuff. I feel like the behavior of the online right is really indicative of a widespread mental health issue, so while watching their claims get taken apart is fun, I'm always dying to know WHY they believe this crap. So thank you for taking a little time to touch on it. I'd love to see you talk more about the psychology that drives this nonsense.

Didge Ridoo

I 100% thought the heartfelt conclusion to the video in the woods was going to abruptly end with him being shot by one of the stray bullets from earlier in the video

Emi Egan

Forever my favourite SoiBoi doing the thinking so I don't have to. <3

Marcus Ogden

I think this is now one of my favourite videos of yours

Troy Brophy

You're basically being water-boarded with soy milk at the end.

alice

i loved the bit at the end when you talked to PJW fans about how actually listening to what someone else has to say can be "outsmarting" peers who simply believe they're right. glad to have folks like you in the world who are more interested in trying to see what the truth is, without holding to preconceptions, while having a great laugh throughout. this video made a shit depressive night significantly better for me. <3

IcyKitty

Getting soy milk poured on your face is the manliest thing

mercy parker

minor quibble at 5:29 - estradiol is pronounced ess-tra-DYE-all. it's so named because of the two -OH groups (or alcohols) not sure if you can or care to fix something that small, but there it is :)

mercy parker

there also may be value in comparing the structure of testosterone and estradiol; they're actually more similar in structure than estradiol and isoflavone. also, the reason all these are so similar is because they're all steroids - the name for the class of chemicals that has that characteristic 4-ring structure

Kaelik

"that's not how Far Use Works" is in there on the Kayla whatever part criticizing Paul Joseph Watson. Probably want to correct that.

Kaelik

nevermind, refreshed comments and someone else let you know. :)

mercy parker

i'm looking forward to this new trend of lefty youtubers pouring soy milk on themselves i eagerly await lindsay ellis' contribution - it'll pair well with that clip from her freddy got fingered video

If you're redoing the voiceovers anyway, I think it might be helpful, when talking about the sheep study, to note that yes you can draw tentative conclusions based on animal studies if no human studies or very few human studies have been done. But when you get to the point where you're citing animal studies to make claims that directly contradict the studies that have actually been done on humans, then you're basically just lying at that point. Since you know some idiot will call you out about rejecting studies done on animals, and didn't you know that these are actually very important, and clearly you just don't know how to science blah blah blah.

(Also, tigers don't only live in India. Siberian tigers live in - well, you know.)

Sean Riley

You might want to mention at 14:35 that even the promising looking 'Human Reproduction (PDF)' link doesn't go to the article. It goes to a blank PDF that looks like it once may have been a press release about the article.

civilization fiction

oh shit, your testosterone i so high your hairline is receding, sorry soy-bro

Shaky Tail Studios

Brilliant as always, very educational, hat cliff joke was great XD

Horse

if being a soy boy is wrong i dont wan't to be right

Adam Tengku

Love it! Only thing to note is a typo at 22:03 - “Not how **far** use works”, presume you meant to write "fair"? Apart from that great video, I need to show this to my partner who has seemingly bought into these claims about soy (although thankfully not from alt-right nutjobs, but a bunch of "scientists" and "food experts") Apparently it's because soy here is fermented as opposed to non-fermented in Asia? Anyway thanks again for amazing work!

2026-09-14 06:00 Why is it that when anyone talks about a subject that opposes alt-right beliefs, regardless of how diplomatic or carefully constructed the argument is, it is interpreted as "autistic screeching" (as one comment in the video states)?

When talking about the doctor that Buzzfeed Try Guys regularly visit, you say he's from the "University of California" when he's really from the "University of California (in) Los Angeles." We have more than one University of California out here in California, some of which are held in higher regard than others when it comes to certain topics, and for this one you're ***definitely*** going to want to mention he's specifically from UCLA.

nvm, phytoestrogens are definitionally nonsteroidal, i fucked that up

Aaron Nemoyten

Loved the video, as always. I especially like the ending; a more philosophical explanation for "why do these people believe these stupid things?" IMO the audio was fine throughout, nothing a bit of EQ and compression can't fix.

Saru

Amazing video, especially liked the part about Festinger and cognitive Dissonance since because I could feel like an intellectual because my prof covered that in my social psychology class last year. The stuff about Phytoestrogens was really interesting and I actually laughed tears because Kaayla Daniel calls herself the naughty nutritionist.

GhostSnake

7:14 o.o CITATION NEEEEEEDED (always wanted to do that lol)

Louise

Amazing vid. There is a typo when you point out to the nutritionist how fair use works. Of course it may be intentional to prove everyone does indeed make mistakes.

Naomi Hatchman

Love the vid! Thanks for the heads up about silica in grass. That could've really messed up my teeth.

TeachersHaveJoinedTheGeneralStrike!

If you're interested in the Psychology of the right-wing, Innuendo Studios recently recommended to me the book "The Authoritarians" about people with authoritarian personality types and why they act the way they do

TeachersHaveJoinedTheGeneralStrike!

The author certainly isn't a leftist so there are some problematic assumptions in his writing but it's an incredibly edifying read

Rosetti Arts

I'm quite looking forward to your piece on NITW, as I finished it recently - while stuff like Undertale and Nier and LIsa are amazing and touching examples of using their medium well, none of them were quite as, uh, personally affected like NITW.

Tempest

So did you actually lose and weight or feel any different at all from having no meat for 2 months? :)

EmbraceBecoming

I finished NITW the other day and I'm really excited to hear your take on it. I'm kind of curious if some of the cultural stuff translates well to a British audience. I thought it was really good!
