Salutations on this, our nation's 241st birthday.  Hindsight being 20/20, Ottawa probably had a better fireworks show than anything you'll see here in the States this year.  July 1st was our neighbor to the North's 150th birthday....so I'll spare 'em the rye whiskey and maple syrup jokes.

Everybody's out to make an extra buck on every other holiday.  Why should KP and company be any different?

Well in all fairness it is their 150th and only our 241st. We'll probably have a big blowout on our 250th. Actually I kind of like seeing the KP gang in festive colors occasionally.

Well, I could just dress 'me all in green and kill three birds with one stone....St Patty's, Arbor Day, and Earth Day. Four if I do 'em in OD green...Veterans Day.

And Xmas, if you put colored circles and a star. For kicks you could paint one green with a pink spot and one with green paint smeared on her face. ;-}

July 4, 1976...a little 6 year old phillipthe2 laid out right underneath the Washington monument with my hippie parents. The entire mall smelled of gunpowder and weed. I doubt very seriously that July 4, 2026 is gonna leave that much of a lasting impression on me.

True. My 7/4/76 was memorable because that was the year I had graduated high school and was now a grown up...wish. But I think the 250th with be just a bit more than 201 - 249 just because it is the next 50 years to have gone by. Let's just hope we get there in one piece. Either way it's still great to be an American in the greatest country in the world.
