I'm five days out from my birthday and I'm already getting a small flood of well-wishers on this and various other sites.  Yes, thanks for that.

So,  what am I getting for my birthday, you may ask?  Well, I did have plans  to rent a beach-side cottage for a couple of days next week over on the  "left coast" of Florida...just the wife and I.  Summertime is actually  the off-season over there.  You step out the back door, you're on the  beach, you look left, you look right, and odds are...you're it.  No throngs of pasty mid-western tourists, no speedo-clad Europeans,  no giant high rise hotels full of said tourists, not even that guy (in a  speedo) with a metal detector.  Mimosa for breakfast, bloody mary for lunch, and what-have-you for dinner.  Old school, Floridians only vacation.

Instead, however...I'm getting a fucking hurricane.

So yeah, if you notice a lack (or limited amount) of posts after this coming weekend it's because the wife and I are sitting in the dark listening to the wind howl.

Now, don't be alarmed....this ain't  my first rodeo.  We're on high ground, the generator's got plenty of gas, got plenty of food and water (and alcohol), and the little town we live in (unlike a certain soggy metropolis in Texas) wasn't built in the middle of a swamp.

I have however, scheduled a couple of posts to cover the interim, but don't be surprised if I don't immediately respond to your comments.  I'm gonna be extremely busy with (real) work until the sky-maelstrom gets here and (more than likely) without power for an undetermined amount of time there after.

Good luck with the storm and happy birthday.

Well first of all Happy Birthday! I'll catch up with you on the 20th when mine comes around. Good luck with the storm, hopefully it will turn up the west coast side. In the meantime be well and stay safe, and we'll catch you on the other side. Good luck.

Have a happy birthday no matter the circumstances. Be safe, be well, and we'll pray for all who may get impacted. Here is hoping it misses you.

Thanks man. Got everything we need long before the procrastinator rush, so we should be fine.

Thanks. Well, there's really no such thing as "near miss" when it comes to hurricanes. It won't be anything like they got in the islands though...not that 100mph gusts is anything to sneeze at. We should be fine, just (more than likely) A/C-less for a week.
